seems to be coming form the north sea but getting more intensive as the low moves north.
An ice day today.
My power is out so my weather station is on battery standby. Culdrose RNAS 7 miles from me went from gusts of 38mph to 85mph and the temperature has dropped from 10.5c to 4.9c in an hour.

half an hour ago it was 6.0c then 10 mins ago there was a sudden icy sleety rain squall and I just looked at temperature it is now 2.5c outside here in Okehampton. - Quite a drop in less than a couple hours. Wouldn't surprise to see a few flakes in the wind soon.

Uppers are -2.5@ 850hpa perhaps why at such low temperature and wind that there is more rain than snow!?
In the last hour or so, the temperature has risen back up to just below freezing and no more so if rises much further, we could find that today actually ends up not being our coldest day of the winter so far after all due to it that bit milder later on.
Furthermore, the band of showers to our east which is very slowly approaching us from off the North Sea is showing up on the latest radar maps to be just falling as rain with any snow being confined to more inland and higher parts.
Currently just below freezing but around 0°C here in Edinburgh with the only downside being that the temperatures have been refusing to drop as the night has gone on, which means that tonight is unlikely to be as cold as last night.
Hoping to at least see some flakes in the rain at some point!
Work: Tonbridge
Entertainingly miserable here (as for many in the SE quadrant I assume) - wobbling around 1.4c, DP 1c, showery rain and windy.

The snow cover is completely unthawed from yesterday but any surfaces that had been cleared now have a uniform layer of ice on them.
Current conditions (personal WS)
There was a bit of sleet and wet snow earlier on which never really settled here and although this has largely all died away for now, it remains rather dull, grey and dismal here.
However, today isn't quite as cold as yesterday with the temperature here in Edinburgh currently at around 2°C.
If it is just 2 C colder.

I'm nervously looking at the radar to see if we get any more snow overnight. Hoping to dig my car out in the morning and get out of the street to drive down to Edinburgh for the Hibs game. Any more snow overnight and I think I'm goosed.
