Surprised to be experiencing a spell of continuous and at times heavy spell of snow here just now. I was expecting rain and there no doubt will be at times (especially with any easterly component later) but some of the snowflakes are the largest I have seen in years. All cleared surfaces are completely covered again.

Still coming down, although the temperature has now finally risen just above zero. I measured a fresh 7cm since it started around 1:30pm, and that's on top of the existing 30!

Woke to our first tiny covering of snow in Perth. It then rained almost all afternoon with the last band the heaviest. Incredible differences in conditions over such a short distance. The central belt of Scotland has almost completely missed out on snow for this spell.

We had 15 mins of light snow from the band that crossed earlier today - temps have climbed since and now upto 2c so next band will be rain as forecast.

Just for a change, a report via my German sister-in-law. Her relatives near the Saarland have the deepest snow they've seen for many years, and are unable to get cars out to move around, that's in a small own environment.

Surprisingly we appear to have a slushy patchy cover of (frozen) snow here, I assume last nights rain band turned wintry after all.

I'd assume there was similar on the Downs etc.

Edit - having just been out in the garden it's ice pellets/hail - a fun 2-3 mm skim on most surfaces. Should make today's cycle to work as interesting as yesterdays albeit nowhere near as cold!

Bit of "wintry mix" in south Edinburgh, graupel-like stuff, some flakes, some feels just like drizzle. Enough to persuade me to grit a path to the pavement anyways

The rain washed away most of the snow last night before it turned back to snow. However, the main problem here this morning is that it’s barely possible to stand up on some of the pavements and side roads because of black ice. I made the mistake of going for a “run” and ended up struggling to “walk” my shortened circuit.

The level snow in my garden is also at exactly 38cm. I guess it’s not a surprise as it’s only about 3 miles away (if that).

For a snapshot of the streets around here I have made a little album from a walk just now. I hope the share settings allow viewing:

All our snow washed away last night and temps this morning were well above freezing so no ice.
