The Chilterns seem to have lost their touch. Used to be able to more or less guarantee at least a minor fall every winter , and a winter without a flake was a once every 10 years thing. Now we seem to go many whole winters without.

Probably about average for England, not as good as the north but better than Southampton /south coast/southwest, Devon Cornwall etc

Seriously though we tend to do well when the wind is from a northerly quarter but are more sheltered from anything from the west by the mountains. Anything from the east (off the sea) is almost always wet rather than white. Overall I would say 6 out of 10.

1950 -1990 - probably one of the best places in the South East. Frequent heavy snow showers from the nearby southern N.Sea and often blizzards even in non-special years at some point with deep drifts. Since then downhill all the way with virtually no lying snow here since 2018.

7/10 , when I set my account up it was based on generally getting decent snowfall in the north east area of sussex ( crowborough/ heathfield/ wadhurst etc)  over and above most areas of the south, not so much in recent years as elsewhere but generally when snow is about these areas get it to some degree and often reasonable amounts that will also stick around in good spells.

I have a memory from the 90's of cold always seeming to come from a northerly flow - with snow showers confined to North Sea coasts. Particularly the NE of East Anglia.
