Weather warnings for wind (60+ mph) in the West Country causing Christmas Day swims to be cancelled.

Nutters anyway!

Note the Met Office text forecast for here talks of the odd flake of snow over the Pennines. Doubt they would include that insignificant detail unless it was Christmas Day.

3.5c here and there has been some drizzle, so I guess maybe above 350-400m some flakes may have occured.

Jumping cold and bright as a pin, +1.4 at Salisbury parkrun, frost in the shadows, feels like -3 with windchill, still the Santa hat kept me warm-ish.

Happy Christmas all!! ⛄

They've said on local radio that it snowed in Jersey between 4am and 6am.  I was up at 6.30am and no evidence.  Now perishing cold, 0.5c with winds gusting 40 mph.  My daughter has gone to do the Xmas Day sea swim; dad has stayed at home to peel spuds.

Merry Christmas to Brian and everyone here on TWO, and to everyone else who is reading this.

It’s another mostly overcast start to today here in the Scottish Borders with only the odd very isolated break in that cloud cover.

Despite Jerry’s reports of overcast skies in Edinburgh, I can confirm that an official air frost was recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank where the temperature dropped to -0.63°C in the earlier part of last night.

However, it’s generally not even the least bit cold now with a temperature of around 5°C here in Hawick.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

3C here in S Hertfordshire - just had to defrost car - ice on the bird baths - penetrating wind.

As Darren accurately describes as perishing !!

Merry Christmas you all.

It’s up to 2.7°C and cloudy after an early morning frost. It feels seasonally cool (but we don’t have the winds of further south)

I see that it is currently still a few degrees below zero across much of inland Royal Deeside.

Just been up to lock the church @ 4pm . Temps just above freezing - but with a wind behind it - so felt breathtakingly cold.

Clear skies, a crescent moon to the south.

It looks perhaps more ominous than it is, due to the dusk, but there are plenty of dark clouds scudding across - the typical "lake effect" shallow convective type. The radar has shown rain a couple of miles upwind for hours now, and it comes and goes in square chunks as the convection is so shallow it's only just within the radar's reach.

Perhaps there may have been a spot of drizzle or even the outside chance of a flake, but four hours of studious looking didn't yield anything. It is, however, continuing to feel perishing in the NE'ly breeze.

4.3, dew 1.3, the high today was 5.9 in the early hours.

EDIT: Here's the view earlier from the yacht club. I doubt there would be too many people strolling along there today!

Unexpectedly wintry feeling Christmas Day here: minimum -5.8C and maximum +0.1C, now already nearly -3C. Cloud in the east never quite made it here, so we had a completely sunny day. Coldest last night on the PWS network was -9 to -10 in Highland Inverness-shire and Aberdeenshire.

Crystal clear skies all day in Hampshire and feeling crisp and wintry with a biting wind.

Webcams just across the Channel showed plenty of snow in Brittany this morning.

Did the UK get an official white xmas, and did it snow in Jersey this morning? Some people seem to have reported a few flurries first thing.

Leaden overcast skies, fresh breeze from the ENE. Current temperature of 3.9c overnight high was 6.2 which was associated with some light showers off the channel.

2.2C here and we've lost that (almost) near penetrating ice day gale force winds from yesterday. But mainly cloudy.

An improvement of sorts.

A bright and sunny start to today here in the Scottish Borders which is something which I haven’t seen for quite a while.

However, last night brought us a return to our more familiar frost-free horror show without even as much as ground frost, presumably as a result of there being too much cloud around during the night.

Currently around 4°C here in Hawick which is still not all that cold for this time of the year.😡

It must have been a frosty start today, as there's still frosty parts in my garden, where the sun has yet to reach. 4.6c Sunny and bright and a lot calmer than yesterday, which was an extremely breezy day, with a lot of gusting in the afternoon. Pretty chilly when out in it! Probably as chilly today too, only without the strong breeze.
