Much the same as yesterday with the difference being a front riding up the SW with rain skirting west Dorset.

I'm in the dry part (just) at 11.4C and a brisk SW breeze introducing the mild air off the Channel.

Overcast and rather windy but drying up nicely. This brisk in-your-face southerly wind is what making the current 9.9 C feel colder than it needs to be.

Today turned out much brighter and milder (peaked at 13.5 C) than I thought, at least the view from my personal "Delta Flyer" over Folkestone taken at 1.30 pm shows.

Very seasonal, at last, today here in The Blackford Frost Hollow. Clear blue sky all day. -1 C first thing and rising to 2 C early afternoon, down to 1 C again at 2.45pm

Frost has persisted all day on cars, sheds and sheltered grass. Of course the sun hasn't risen over the hill today (it won't rise again until mid-Jan) It's been shining on Arthur's Seat all day

I can't believe how warm our 6°C seems today. There's no wind and it's mostly cloudy but I've just done a circuit round the village in light clothes and a hoodie, and I'm steaming!

Nice inversion in the Downs this morning, comparing Singleton in the Lavant Valley with Goodwood 100m higher up.

1000; Singleton 2C, Goodwood 6C

1200: Singleton 8.5C, Goodwood 8C

At 1200 a breeze was getting up.

No rumbles but a light SW off the Channel and another more organised batch of rain approaching for later this morning. An indoors day beckons. 11.5C so the sea must still have some residual warmth to waft inland.

Wettest day for a long time here. Full waterproofs required for the evening dog walk. Plenty of surface water, ditches flowing and a lot of water pouring out of the nearby field entrance onto the main road, slowing the traffic where it collects across the carriageway. The local stream/river nearly at flood level for the first time this autumn/winter. Also now sounds like it's blowing a gale out there
