Meanwhile back on topic, today is a nice, sunny day with only small amounts of cloud. A total of just over 3.1 hours of sunshine was recorded for yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank, so perhaps last month's duller than average month was just a mere blip as this continues to be the year in which the Sun just won't stop shining here.

Last night was cooler than the previous night but not cold enough for a ground frost as the overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh was only down to 5.1°C.

Currently around 9°C here in Edinburgh, so today is a bit cooler than yesterday.

Here in Edinburgh, there was some overnight rain from the tail end of ex-Hurricane Melissa and despite the centre of this system being a very long way away from the UK, it is still continuing to bring us winds gusting up to around 40 mph from the SW at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

However, that rain has now cleared away to leave us with yet another mostly sunny day in this year in which the Sun just won't stop shining.

Yesterday's minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was officially 8.5°C but that was a temperature which was actually recorded yesterday morning as the official observation day runs from 09:00 UTC (currently 9am GMT) on one day to the exact same time on the next day.

Since then, the temperatures have generally been going up, presumably as a result of tropical air that is still circulating around ex-Hurricane Melissa and as I write, the temperature here in Edinburgh is now up to an almost ridiculously mild (for this time of year) 15°C.

Here in Edinburgh, it's now clouded over and it's started raining once again.

However, it's still very mild at around 15°C here in Edinburgh.

14C.  Cloudy with moderate SW breeze. The BBC forecast has gone into split mode again. The pictorial part has heavy rain beginning about 10am and lasting for the rest of the day, the written part

"Today will be breezy and mild. It will be largely cloudy, but with a few sunny breaks at times. A few showers moving in from the southwest are possible."

The radar isn't inspiring for heavy useful rain but I suppose that can change. Some will be pleased though if it stays more or less dry.

After 16.5 C at Edinburgh's Botanic Gardens yesterday it's been a mild night with a minimum of 12 C. Rain is setting in just now, moving erratically north from The Borders

After a largely cloudy start to today albeit with some breaks in that cloud to begin with, it's now raining here in Edinburgh once again

Currently around 13°C, so the mild theme goes on.

A remarkably mild night for the time of year. The showers have cleared away and the light of the full moon is giving the night an eerie bluish glow. It's stll hovering around 12/13°C as well, making it feel more like a night in August rather than November.

Just been doing Autumn jobs in the garden, it feels warm and humid. It's very still with loads of wee flies. Some wasps still appearing and ladybirds. Swanston weather station to the south of me has recorded 16.7 C earlier. Doesn't feel like a Scottish November!

15°C and cloudy now - but it's been dry enough today to do a final mow for tomorrow's last "Green Bin" - which is full. 😁👍

Just been up to lock the village church and it was trying to rain as I came home. Up to then it has been a dull and uninspiring day.

The very mild and mostly cloudy November continues. The 6th was the warmest November day recorded at Swanston, 16.7 C. Yesterday, some stations in Scotland reached 17 C. I was up the hill in just a t-shirt (& walking trousers!) sat looking across a very balmy feeling Edinburgh lit by a low sun

As i mentioned a few days ago there are lots of small flies and wasps which presumably November frosts would normally get rid of?

Some nice spells of sunshine have pushed the temperature up to 15 C and I can see convection occuring. A big Cumulonimbus maturing to my NW and I can see the glaciated tops of showers to my SSW
