Get ready to record rain!

Nevertheless, last night was cooler than of late but not cold enough to give us a ground frost as the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank dropped to 5.8°C but the end result of this is that we've had all that high pressure in the last couple of weeks but not even a single ground frost to show for that which is absolutely pathetic!! (we didn't get much sunshine from that either and last week was very dull, but we at least had a period from that that last weekend when it was very sunny)

Currently around 10°C here in Edinburgh, so the milder air is already starting to arrive here.

Steady light rain with light south south east winds and 14.3C. I'm hoping the rain showing on the radar will please the aquifers under me.

Another one of those days where the North Downs effortlessly shreds approaching rain... a few spits and spots, and at one point the ground was dampened, but at no point has the gauge tipped.

Overcast, 14.1, dew 12.7, with today's high being 15.8.

Yep, just 2mm here, mostly from continuous heavy drizzle and light rain. Did anybody get any serious rainfall out of this?

12mm here today and certainly very welcome, it's been mostly light rain so has never felt like a washout where you wouldn't step out with even a light jacket.

Nothing to report here yet on Storm Benjamin at 02.34hrs....

Now raining steadily 03.10hrs.

05.50hrs. Difficult to judge what is happening weather-wise yet - still dark. With wind from the north our E and W facing windows don't show many clues - but the rain seems less than expected so far.

8.8C. Currently cloudy with fresh NW breeze. The first batch of overnight rain went through quite fast. The second more or less went to the south of here with what amounts to a token fall. To dark to check the gauge without tripping up.

10.0C and falling, a bit wet, a bit windy with winds already going round to the NW, heavy cloud. Notable amount of leaf fall overnight from maple, lime and hazel still holding on.

Just in case anybody’s wondering where I’ve disappeared to in recent days, I’m currently down in Hawick in the Scottish Borders where I will be celebrating my birthday on Sunday with my family.

I travelled down here on Monday and will be travelling back to Edinburgh next Monday.

Here in Hawick, it’s mostly cloudy just now although the Sun briefly came out around an hour or so ago.

I can see that Edinburgh has finally had its first ground frost of this month at long last as the temperature at Gogarbank dropped to 3.7°C. At Charterhall in the Borders, it was a similar story with an overnight minimum temperature of 3.8°C but without any ground frost.

Currently around 8°C here in Hawick.

Storm Benjamin has just made a late appearance here on its way out, and it’s now raining here in Hawick with a cold wind and a temperature of only around 9°C
