The latest rainfall data for Edinburgh Gogarbank is as follows:

Data For Recent Days

Total since 10 am BST (09:00 UTC) yesterday morning: 3.6 mm (as at 6:40 am BST (05:40 UTC) this morning on Sunday 28 September 2025)

Monthly Data

Total for this month so far: 43.6 mm (79.0% of 1991-2020 September average)

Number of rain days during this month: 11 (104.4% of 1991-2020 September average)

Number of dry days during this month: 12

This means that at least another 11.6 mm of rain now needs to fall between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

Our next window of opportunity for any significant rainfall doesn't come up until Wednesday according to the latest model output, but that is beyond the end of this month as there are only three days left of this month including today. As a result, that target is unlikely to be even close to being met, so this is a dead cert once again to go down as yet another below average month in terms of the actual rainfall amounts and there is a good chance that we might not even see any more additions to that total this month.

However, more official rain days have now been recorded during this month than the 1991-2020 September average and so regardless of what happens during the rest of this month, this month will now go down as being wetter than average in terms of the number of rain days and it's been a very long time since I was last able to say that.

Seasonal Data

Total for this autumn so far: 43.6 mm (20.6% of 1991-2020 autumn average)

Number of rain days during this autumn: 11 (30.2% of 1991-2020 autumn average)

Number of dry days during this autumn: 12

Annual Data

Total for this year so far: 405.4 mm (51.7% of 1991-2020 annual average)

Number of rain days during this year: 75 (54.6% of 1991-2020 annual average)

Number of dry days during this year: 151
