So 16.0 for the rest of the week will do it for an 18. Beat that easily today and tomorrow. See what's left.

Looks like just 15.5 will do for an 18 now but high 16s for an 18.3.

Out of interest this month so far has had no sub 20 CET maxima, a feat achieved for the whole month of July 2018. Not sure if the data clevers know of another?

Good. Average 16.5 from today on should secure 18.3 and only 13.4 for an 18.

So only 12.2 is needed for the last 2 days (including today).

July CET days that low or lower have only occurred 9 times since 1980, mostly in clusters in just 4 years, the lowest being 2 x 11.1°C days in 1993. The last was in 1997.

Regardless of the rarity of such low July temperatures, I suspect we are looking some 5 degrees higher for the last two days, heading towards a finish of about 18.3

A 15.7 August would be adequate for a 17 summer mean.

The entire month's CET maxima were 20C or higher. In facts there has only been one sub-20 day since (and including) 10th June: 23rd June at 19.6°C. This means a run of 38 days.

This has not surpassed 2018 with a run of 48 days from 22nd June to 8th August inclusive and it looks as if that won't happen. A shame as 23rd June was such a near miss.

Plenty of movement in the top 5 with Frank retaining his slender lead closely followed by DingleRob snapping at his heels. A shout out to Bolty also who's climbed from16th in Jan to 4th in the table
