A very wet weekend here.  33mm on Saturday, then another 9mm today brings our July total to 91mm.   Already 60% above our July average!

A welcome 21.2mm here over the weekend, mostly steady although one shower yesterday lunchtime was well over 100mm/hr rate for a few mins.

Still only at 27mm for the month though and looking dry after the next few showery days.

Up to 77.5mm now after 37mm yesterday.  Heavy rain from Midday dropped about 20mm and then some intense showers around 10pm gave us a further 17mm in about an hour.

Everything is much greener again!

In inches, I doubt we’ve had even, ¼ let alone ½inch of rain here. The weather warning of isolated thunderstorms remain for here though. Do isolated thunderstorms really warrant a yellow warning I wonder?

Another 12.6 mm fell in the form of frequent blustery showers last night here at Folkestone, that's on top of the 27 mm that had fallen over the weekend. My beloved lawn is already looking good for it.

Watching the current radar with its diminishing returns, is looking less and less likely to give solace to my garden.

Good for those on holiday though.

14mm overnight but no rain here all day. The rain shield here perseveres with thundery showers passing on an invisible conveyor to our near NE and SW. So near, in fact, that when walking the dog earlier this evening I got soaked a mile away from home

Down here in Hawick, I don’t have the usual access to my python scripts but from the data at Meteomanz.com, I can confirm that this month’s total at Edinburgh Gogarbank is around 63.6mm which is 88.5% of the 1991-2020 July average. This means that at least another 8.4mm of rain needs to fall there between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

Meanwhile, a total of around 8 official rain days have been recorded at that same station this month which is 70.2% of the 1991-2020 July average. This means that at least 4 more rain days need to be recorded there between now and the end of this month in order for this month to down as being wetter than average in terms of the number of rain days.

The above figures are just rough values which might not be exactly accurate as the source of this data might not necessarily follow the official Met Office observation day, but I will post a more detailed and accurate report on here once I return home next week.

Those in Bournemouth area maybe able to confirm the increase in showers today. My daughter has been in Christchurch since Saturday and was pleased that the weather was nowhere near as wet as forecasted and it has been quite pleasant with sunny spells and very few showers - up till now. Looking at the radar though there seems to be an increased amount of cloud today and a streamer of showers? The forecast was less showers and a tad warmer today with high pressure building in! Just shows that all the forecasters and all the models struggle to predict cloud cover still and localised showers.

A very heavy shower has just passed through here. Missed a decent thunderstorm yesterday evening as we were out for the wife's birthday a few miles to the north west. I don't have any kind of formal gauge but going by various containers in the garden I'd say we've had around 60mm here since Friday. Pond overflowing and my IBC water tank fed by the shed roof is back to 90% full. Lawns are already greening up and drought conditions rapidly fading to a memory (though I appreciate a lot more rain is needed to balance the year's current deficit and another dry spell could easily reverse things again)

The radar shows them well enough. The one with the red orange and yellow bits currently over me produces some light rain. Perhaps it's high level stuff?

Has your daughter been to the Red House Museum? Just giving it a plug. Or even the Priory?

Humid day here currently at 4pm 21 c .

Dry up to 1130 then a heavy thunderstorm for 45 mins depositing just short of 20 mm here but note a couple of local stations recording double this in the Eastbourne area . Just had further cracks of thunder recently another stormpassing  just to the North . More appearing along the line of the south downs . A thorough soaking today flooding rain in places around here .seems localised to the far south today

After this morning showery spell of light rain, there's a declining shower on Brian's radar to the north of Dorchester that might come over. I'm having some exterior wall painting done on the house back and front but because it's the pre wash treatment it shouldn't affect the work.

The painter is still hard at work with short break for a sharp shower. Prep is the key so tomorrow he will clean and fill cracks and other defects. No thunder here.

Yesterdays Met Office Deep Dive explained why the showers would be confined to the very close to coast regions. Very complex . High level vortex , light Northerly winds , slight sea breeze plus other factors which i have forgotten🤔😄. Did not see a drop here after a light shower early this morning.

I don't really want rain tomorrow because of the painting work, but really need it for the garden and lakes across the road.
