I'm actually doubting the 1995 number here it seems to high, does anyone have any other data?

OK going back to 1995. I checked the Met Office Daily Weather Summaries and the true number seems to be 27 days, not 34.

June: 28, 29, 30

July: 9, 10, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31

August: 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22

Unless there were other higher figures that came in after these were published? Trevor Harley says every day from July 20 to August 2, but July 22, 23, 24 maxima in the DWS were just 24.0C, 26.0C and 28.5C, and the 28th was 28.0C

Back to today and Achnagart hit 31.2C in the end, just ahead of Ross on Wye at 31.1C.

Interesting that Achnagart in the north west highlands recorded the highest official temperature in the UK yesterday at 31.2C. That doesn't happen very often.

Not really been that much of a heatwave here at my backyard, more like a pleasantly warm spell with maxes of 23 C (highest being 23.6 C) in the past 4 days on account of a north east breeze despite good sunshine amounts.  Joys of living at a coastal area, especially when the wind is coming in from a certain direction but well done to those who had experienced the hotter temperatures recently.

Hopefully tomorrow we can get rid of the trapped heat in the house, but looks like getting warm and humid again after that until Sunday

Looks like the warmest on Monday was 28.1C in Hull, so not even close to 30C in the end. The models had suggested 30C in E Anglia.

This Friday could well hit 30c ,but the models are really struggling with this mini very warm/hot spell. Wide selection of maxes .

Charlwood has hit 30.3c

Making it the 12th 30c day this year, could be a while before we see the 13th but output could easily change.
