Didn't realise it was so chilly last night, or chillier than recently of course, the low was 7.9c down here even.

High so far today is 22.8c, bright or sunny conditions.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh was 8.5°C to give us our first single figures minimum of this month.

Today then started off on a bright and sunny note but since around mid-morning, it's been mostly cloudy with only occasional sunny intervals at times although it's still dry and barring a possible isolated very light passing shower, it's looking likely (according to the radar maps) to remain that way for another while at least.

Currently around 16°C here in Edinburgh which is warmer than at this time yesterday, though still rather disappointing for this time of the year.

Happy Independence Day to all Americans out there.

Anyway, there was some overnight rain which has now cleared away but today has still started off on a dull and overcast note and there is more rain on its way out to our west just now.

Last night was milder than the previous night though with an overnight minimum temperature of 12.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Currently around 14°C here in Edinburgh

A windy and unpleasant afternoon here in Edinburgh with light drizzly rain at times, and with the temperatures also refusing to rise.😡

Currently around 15°C here in Edinburgh and not even the least bit warm for this time of the year. 😡

Really surprised at the strength of the wind here today. Wild as hell with plenty of branches down all over the place. Misty drizzle as well with a temp of 15c.

It's still not been a completely sunless day at Edinburgh Gogarbank though (Swanston might well be a completely story of course) as a total of 0.2 hours of sunshine was still recorded there and although that is very little, that is still enough to prove what I keep on saying on here that regardless of how everything pans out in terms of our weather, the Sun always seems to find a way being seen at some point in time virtually every single day.

I haven't seen any actual sunshine today other than some occasional brightness in the middle part of the morning but actual data like that clearly never tells lies.

It has been a very windy day today and today's highest mean wind speed was around 26 mph from the SW at Edinburgh Airport but rather remarkably, there has been none of the 40+mph gusts today which we would normally get with that.

There's also been very little rain here either. It's only really been in the last wee while that we've finally go to see a bit of that, but even that has barely even dampened the ground here. Once again, we have seen that same old story which has been all too familiar recently because although there has been a lot of rain around in Scotland today, most of that just keeps on being focused on those more western areas which don't actually need it now whilst that rain just isn't really getting through to those parts of the east which need it the most and if our current water scarcity situation (which I've been discussing on other threads) is to be alleviated in any way, that is something which needs to change.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was just 17.3°C which continues our fairly cool start to the month, although it should be remembered that June actually started off on an even cooler note before still going on to much warmer than average in the end with that largely being helped by us experiencing our hottest June day on record here in Edinburgh.

Tonight is rather warm, humid and muggy with the temperature still at around 16°C here in Edinburgh.

A warm night leads to a warm morning, overcast and breezy. It'll be cooler today, but the humidity returns.

16.9, dew 12.2, which is the overnight low so far. Yesterday's high was 26.9.

A 2nd noisy night, the blustery wind has been constant, gusting to 35mph. It feels autumnal, the paths in the woods are covered in leaves, twigs and some small branches. We do have fleeting sunshine this morning though and the temperature didn't drop below 14 C. It's going to be a battle up the hill again this morning 🍃🍃🍃

Last night's overnight temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 13.6°C.

This morning has started off on a largely cloudy note once again with only brief and fleeting sunny intervals, but these are a bit more extensive than at this time yesterday.

It's also a bit warmer than at this time yesterday with the temperature currently already at around 17°C here in Edinburgh.

Could we possibly get our first 20+°C maximum of this month here in Edinburgh today? That isn't something which is being forecast to happen but given how much easier and more effortlessly these 20+°C maximums tend to happen these days in this part of the world within this continuously warming climate, I wouldn't in any way be surprised if that actually ended up happening, especially given a forecast's tendencies to underestimate its predicted maximums.

A pleasant day, cool and breezy enough to make mowing my "No Mow May" patch a pleasure. We have a Met Office Yellow warning for Thunderstorms tomorrow, I see. That would be great!

"These will bring heavy rain, lightning and some hail. Within the warning area, 15-25 mm of rain is expected quite widely, much of this falling within two or three hours at any given place. Where repeated thunderstorms occur, locally higher peaks of 40-60 mm are possible."

After a fairly bright and breezy day up until now, a rash of heavy showers has just arrived from the west which should come as no surprise given that this is the first weekend of the Edinburgh Trades Fortnight when a lot of businesses traditionally take a well deserved holiday.

After a fairly warm start to today and despite the earlier sunshine at times, the temperatures have also generally been refusing to rise throughout today and have ended up being no higher at any time of the day than they were at 10am BST this morning, so the temperature here in Edinburgh continues to be stuck at around 17°C.

A few spots of rain, nothing more, otherwise the day has improved in terms of brightness and sun as it has gone along.

Last night's min was a warm 15.1c, today's max was 10 mins ago at 21.7c so pretty much average, DP at 17.2c currently.
