As DEW is away this weekend, I've started the topic again.

Carried over from the old thread:

19C and cloudy with light NW airs.

Another stifling night here - it was still in the 20s at midnight. It's now partly cloudy, dead calm (back to normal there), very warm and humid.

18.6, dew 17.3. The overnight low was 18.3 and yesterday's high was 29.6.

Today was forecast to be a sunny day here in Edinburgh and the day even started off on a bright and sunny note here.

Rather frustratingly though, it has now clouded over a bit.

Yesterday, a total of 8.4 hours of sunshine was recorded in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank and so far today as at 8:40am BST (07:40 UTC) this morning, a total of 2.3 hours of sunshine had been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This means that since my report on here, a further 3.6 hours of sunshine have been recorded but that still leaves us needing at least another 3.5 hours of sunshine in order for this month to go down as sunnier than average here and since this month only has 30 days in it, we have only got up until tomorrow's sunset for that to actually happen.

However, I'm confident that we will still get over that finishing line in the end and probably even do so today as there is also quite a bit of blue sky still around with the Sun still getting through at times. However, it has been a real struggle getting there this time, especially in comparison with what happened in April and May when we already had that in the bag quite a while before we even got close to the end of those months.

It has also cooled down a bit since yesterday and last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 10.7°C which only just gives us a double figures minimum and no more.

Currently around 15°C here in Edinburgh but the Met Office is forecasting a maximum of 23°C for here today and according to those forecasts, there are no signs of any cooldown which would result in any maximum temperatures below 20°C on any day right up until next Saturday at least which means that we can already safely say that this month will go down as being warmer than average here despite the very cool start to the month.

Sunny at last in the Lakes as fresher clearer air has moved in. Time to dry everything out!!

It's 14 C just now but we might reach 20 or 21 C today. I'm looking forward to going up Wansfell 🙂

It's good when a weather forecast promises a sunny day and then the weather gods then actually deliver that because as we all know only too well, that's not always how it actually ends up.

There was a bit of cloud around for a while this morning but other than that, there has been no issues on that front whatsoever with virtually constant sunshine since then.

As a result, a total of 6.9 hours of sunshine has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 1:40pm BST (12:40 UTC) this afternoon. This means that more sunshine has now been recorded this month than the 1991-2020 June average so that regardless of what happens between now and tomorrow's sunset, this month will go down as being yet another sunnier than average month here.

It's yet another warm day here in Edinburgh with the temperature currently at around 21°C but the dew point (and therefore, the relative humidity) is very low, and much lower than it was yesterday. Because of that, it's no longer feeling as stuffy here in my flat today as it has been despite the fact that it's still every bit as warm.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as 23.6°C which is actually slightly higher than the official Met Office forecasts for today.

Since around tea-time, some more cloud has built up with only occasional sunny intervals since then but that doesn't really matter now as we now already have our sunnier than average month in the bag once again for the fourth month in a row.

Currently around 21°C here in Edinburgh which is warmer than at this time last night and both the dew point and relative humidity are also creeping up once again which isn't going to make it very comfortable for sleeping tonight.

Crystal clear again now after a brief spell of cirrus this evening. Warm breeze, rum and Coke almost finished. How summer should be.

Another warm night, but a bit more cloud around this morning than the norm. It's calm, again as usual in summer.

Currently it's 17.3, dew 16.2, with the overnight low being 15.7. Yesterday's high was 27.9.

I see (with glee) that the MetO raw has had a rare downgrade for today, now showing "only" 29 rather than the 31-33 of previous runs. Hopefully it will be right!

The cloud's melted away, like magic, and it's slowly getting warmer, 18.5 outside and 25 indoors already! There's a disparity today between the GFS and MetO; the former has onshore winds and 32C, the latter has a sea breeze ENE'ly picking up and hence stays at 25 for most of the day, only rising to 29 in the evening as the wind veers onshore.

One of the hallmarks of this extended warm spell is a lack of wind from the sea, instead the steering flow has often been SW'ly, meaning we swelter!

Light rain and 18 C in Ambleside

Yet another nightmare train journey ahead. No trains today north of Carlisle. My last two train journeys had people jump in front of trains, this time it's a tree at Lockerbie

Anyway will report the weather from Carlisle, Newcastle and Edinburgh 🙂

A very pleasant 27c down here near Folkestone with a cooling breeze, it's almost perfect summer weather. Tomorrow is when the real heat will get squeezed down this way I fear.
