If it turns out that there isn't a single 30+°C this year, that might also slightly quieten down the ongoing argument about climate change as a result.

I can't really see that happening though because even with our worst summers, at least somewhere has always seen 30+°C at some point in time in our most recent years, at least within this century as far as I know.

I don't expect to win (obviously it would be great if I do) but perhaps I'll have as much chance as others picking an exact day

The 19th looks a good bet atm. Nothing certain yet though. Also the June record was broken by every major Op this morning. 35.6c to beat.

If it was me, I might gave gone for the 20th seeing as the 19th has gone - unless that has gone too.

It was close, here at least, in 2023. We managed one 30c day all summer, just sneaked a 30.4c in June, and then in September had 3 days above 30c. Close but no cigar, must be very rare I agree.

It looks like 30c will be reached in the next few days and I think probably more than once before the end on June.  I already wrongly guessed it would be in May but regardless, we’re having a really long spell of good weather that’s lasted since early Spring.  Temperatures have been just short of 30c a few times.   👍 

I expect the completion will conclude this week and hopefully there will be a winner. I'm not sure if any dates for this week are still available.

This mornings output again suggests the June record will likely go. 

To be fair though its only the GFS6Z that is getting overexcited at the moment. 

Even the NAVGEM only gets to barely 32C on Sunday (https://modeles3.meteociel.fr/modeles/navgem/runs/2025061600/navgemeuw-9-156.png?0) and this is the model that loves doing the whole nonsense 45C+ doomsday scenario thing.

ECM also suggests the record is in danger. On the full grid 2m max temp I'm confident there'll be a 36C or 37C.

Met Office auto forecast suggesting London might just get to 30c this week.

UKV says tomorrow is the day, with 31C quite widely and 32C on the Welsh borders.

So in terms of tommorow (thursday) this is what the models are going for, I'm using truncated integars so 30C should be read as anything between 30.0 and 30.9C

WRF: 30C

AROME: 30C

IRIE: 30C

ECMWF: 30C

ICON: 30C

Now these are gridpoint estimates which weather stations undersample, even so the model tends to underestimate enough in these scenarios such that you want to usually go for the upper end. 

So I reckon the max temperature tommorow will be something between 31.7C and 32.7C
