Lively day in the south looking likely, some pockets of sunshine might help with the convection later although this is definitely not the driver for this! That corridor just to the south of London looks interesting early afternoon.

No rain since 9am today looks like some  here around 5  6 pm but not a sign of any convection  as per the forecast . . A cool day a fresh westerly breeze lot of cloud left over from last night's rain  and little sunshine to create any sort of surface warming  thunderstorms seem very unlikely now

A lot of lightning over north Africa again as I type. Is this unusual as someone suggested on two a day or so ago?  Edit. Just checked ozone aurora brought this up.

The thundery prediction for here today came to nothing.

Well that's a good 10-15mm of rain in 20 minutes - absolute soaking. Lightning and thunder was frequent for about 5 minutes or so but has been very sporadic since.

A few rumbles here, south of Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Wanted a bit more as have 6 month old puppy and wanted to be outside and ignore him basically, so he doesn’t feel as though it’s anything to bother him although he didn’t react to the rumbles we did have.

There was a nice storm pass by here yesterday, late afternoon, a typical dark, almost greenish tinged sky rolled in which produced a good few lightning strikes, one very close by, a huge boom of thunder following close on it's heels. Monsoon like rain fell for a spell, which turned to steady rain, lasted for about an hour. it was a nice vociferous end to the showery, soggy and sometimes windy day.

The forecasts for Cornwall has been dire, me and the wife are on our hols near Newquay and in the yellow thunderstorm zone. She said when are we going to get them, I said we won’t, it’s too damn cold and they’ll die coming across the channel, I was right.

The lightning strikes over France on the radar are something to behold. Looking pretty moody here now but I think everything will pass to my east.
