There is still some cloud around this morning but today has started off on a mostly bright and sunny start after the clearance of yet more overnight rain but the data shows that there was obviously some form of squall line in the early hours of this morning as the cold front moved through, as there is an isolated hourly reading which shows that a total of 5.0 mm of rain was recorded within that hour at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Last night was actually our warmest night of the year so far with an overnight minimum temperature of 11.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank but there is a much fresher feel to this morning with the temperature currently at around 12°C here in Edinburgh.

A windy day here in Edinburgh with maximum winds gusts reaching around 43 mph from the west at Edinburgh Gogarbank, and there are also a few blustery showers around as well although these are blowing through very quickly in the wind and haven't really come to much until now.

There has been some decent sunny spells as well with the temperature briefly reaching around 15°C here in Edinburgh but with the last shower of rain, the temperature has then suddenly dropped back to around 10°C which isn't even the least bit warm for this time of the year.

The showers have now becoming a bit heavier and more frequent with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank now gusting up to around 44 mph from the west and with the temperature having now dropped back to around 12°C here in Edinburgh.

All of a sudden, this is starting to make all of the dry and sunny weather which we've seen throughout this spring seem like a very distant memory.

Summer is Over (at least for now anyway)!!😡

Wind gusting to 49mph so the 7mm of rain yesterday will soon be evaporated.

There are spitty showers racing through today, barely damping ground.

This morning has started off on a fairly bright with some sunshine at times and the wind has died down a bit from yesterday, but it is still breezy with a lot of cloud around, and there are still some occasional showers feeding in from the west as there has been throughout the night.

Last night was cooler than the previous night though with the temperature currently at around 9°C here in Edinburgh

The same here.

Diddly squat rain recently and even less I guess (forecast) to come.

A generally dry easterly flow has morphed into a largely dry westerly regime here.

Lots of heavy rain all around but the Leeds rain shield proving very effective again. No rain to save Yorkshire in the cricket!

14.2C. SW breeze but after the largely dry BH better described as a blowout, I'm looking forward to seeing some rain today.

Radar promising something out west but will it come to much? BBC bullish again for heavy rain...

Breezy and largely cloudy here in Edinburgh with some sunny intervals at times.

Currently around 12°C here in Edinburgh, following on from an overnight minimum temperature of 8.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank

EDIT

Some more showers have just arrived from the west as I write

Dull, wet and windy making the current 14.1 C & mid-90% H feel more like a typical November's day. 4 mm so far today.

The glorious Spring already seem a distant memory, yes much to the relief of my beloved lawn but hopefully things will improve by the end of the week.

A vaguely wet afternoon with 3.4mm the trouble is ground is so dry that these rather trivial 'rain events' don't do much good and have dried off within a few hours. The immediate threat of grass burning up completely with almost nothing on hay and silage ground has receded.

Month now on 16mm.

14.5C. Sunny spells and breezy. After yesterdays near gales which blew off many new leaves and the novelty of watching puddles grow, we still need more rain. It was a little disturbance that ran close along the Channel in the evening that gave the 'most' rain here.

Sunny breaks and partial cloud, had the best of the sunshine this morning and now there are more cloud than there are clear skies. 21.0 C on the nose & low-60% H but still that brisk W breeze. A vast improvement on yesterday, though (6.8 mm fell yesterday).
