Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 21.6°C which makes today our warmest day of this month so far and in any other year, that would normally also be enough to give us our warmest day of that year so far.
That is not the case this year though, but that just goes to show how warm this spring has been so far and although we're only a third of the way through the month, that is already our second 20+°C maximum of this month which is quite impressive considering that we're still almost three weeks away from the start of the actual meteorological summer.
In addition to that, a total of 12.3 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank. That is not enough to give us our sunniest day of the year so far but that occurred only on Thursday with a total of 13.8 hours of sunshine and then yesterday, we had a total of 12.6 hours of sunshine. This is clearly a very sunny period of weather which we're experiencing yet again and so far this month, we have already had around half of our 1991-2020 May average sunshine within what is actually our sunniest month of the year on average according to those same 1991-2020 averages despite the fact that we're still more than a month away from the summer solstice.
Meanwhile, the temperature has dropped back to around 13°C here in Edinburgh but with a more humid feel, as it feels quite a lot warmer than that..
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
