Think of it as the final opinion poll before an election! We'll see how this plays out very soon, but the UKV 15Z is calling for 31°C in the London area. If correct, we’ll see history made tomorrow, Thursday 1st May.

Even just a few hours out, there continue to be massive differences between two of the main models: MetO, sunny and very warm across the SE all day, GFS, much cooler with cloud moving in by 9 AM across much of the south/SE. One of them's got to be wrong as they're polar opposites!

The MetO raw is down to 27 here, 28 at Heathrow, Reading and Charlwood and yes, a 30 for "Greater London" - which is of course a large area.

https://weather.metoffice.gov.uk/forecast/gcpvj0v07#?date=2025-05-01

GFS meanwhile has 26 for "Greater London" via xc.

25.4C outside the office on the north facing wall as I type.

Yesterday I was on the coast at Kimmeridge where it was 23C with a bank of sea fog a few miles out that covered Portland from time to time.

Back home it had reached a tad over 28C and felt it.

18.6 as of 11z (12 BST) here - much cooler than the MetO raw (which had 23C for now), but not cloudy either - so GFS was wrong there too.

Not a good day for the models so far, but I'm not complaining!

I note for the last few days Lakenheath has registered temps a few degrees higher than nearest neighbours (Mildenhall and Marham) who seem quite consistent. I wonder what will happen this afternoon.
