Snowing here for over 2 hours now but mostly light we only have 1cm. However all surfaces are now covered. It's -0.5 C

The area of precipitation seems to be weakening

Although the temperature is still just below freezing though, the snow here in NW Edinburgh appears to have turned more towards sleet and rain which is already causing our light dusting of snow to disappear.😡

That is important because without any heavier precipitation, we are unlikely to get the evaporative cooling from that which might be what is needed to turn everything back to snow again and give us a decent covering.

When I got out of bed temporarily at 5.30am I could see out of the window that there was still a reasonable snow covering, but with more gaps than last night. This observation makes my post qualify for the snow reports thread, though the current state is that there is none left at all.

One unusual observation this morning was that the windows were completely misted over. When I tried to wipe off the condensation the inside was completely dry and all the condensation was on the outside of the cold glass, making it almost entirely opaque. The mild humid air had produced condensation on the outside, which is the opposite of what usually happens.

Still snowing, 15cm, but light now. There is some heavier stuff to the SW but whether it will still be snow when/if it arrives , I am not sure.

Ended up with about 5cms here, temp now 1.1C and dp 1C. Drizzle starting to fall but surprised there is still a good covering but becoming slushy.

Started sticking around midnight and, by half-one'ish, there was a covering 1-2cm on everything, with the intensity of the snow pretty heavy.

I expected around 7-10cm so am pretty disappointed with the 4-5cm we have.

We have that curious mix now of rain and little ice shards with a few flakes thrown in. The snow is now pretty wet and has a layer of slush underneath.

Hard to estimate how much fell here but I would guess 4-5cm.  Pretty much a complete covering still, although it’s now raining gently and I think it will be gone by lunchtime. About 3c here.

Continued snowing here till about 1.00am. Surprisingly it did finally settle when temperature dropped to 0.7C. Ended up with 1-2cm of cover but rain soon set in and washed it all away by morning. In fact there has been a massive 20mm of rain including snow meltand more to come. Flooding could become more the problem as the day wears on.

It's just light drizzly rain which we're getting now here in NW Edinburgh where our very light dusting of snow has now completely disappeared making this whole thing a complete non-event here.😡

This means that we still haven't yet had a proper snow cover here this winter so far and given that the temperature is still slightly below freezing here (today is probably not going to be an ice day though as that really would be too much to ask for), you really have to wonder what on Earth it's going to take for us to get a proper covering of snow here during the actual winter.😡

All ppn ceased here about an hour or more ago.

There's definitely a thaw - but it's a really slow one. We're forecast heavier rain this afternoon, but maybe we get lucky and the covering last through to tonight then freezes.

Snow turned to freezing drizzle recently.

16cm level snow, really good event.  Had to help out a few drivers as roads are bad.

0.2c, no thaw yet.

After a spell of drizzle we are back to sleet and wet snow on a freshening NE wind. The temperature is now +0.8 C and we have a slushy mess on the ground

Not sure whether we are getting convection from the North Sea now?

Instead of dropping, the temperature has gone up a bit to 2.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh (the closest station to where I live).

The precipitation has got a bit heavier now, but it's still only plain old rain here without even a hint of any wintriness.

Rain has changed to sleet and wet snow once again here in NW Edinburgh.

All we need now is for it to stay like that and possibly turn more to snow so that we can get a decent covering but that would probably be too much to ask for

Been raining steadily for about an hour now. Making little headway on clearing the snow down far.
