As John has mentioned, rain showers filtered in from the west overnight on to the frozen ground. This morning we have glaze and black ice, it's lethal underfoot. Our 3 day frost is still evident but now covered with ice!!

A low of -3 C overnight, rising to +1 C in the early hours. Back down to 0 C now

Now untreated surfaces covered in that nasty glaze, which is now melting a little bit to make it even slippier, luckily I live on a main road so the pavement gritted

Overcast (dense layer of altostratus) but temp below frreezing.

Cloud layer has been thinnig here the last while with blue appearing in the sky. Encouraging perhaps that this front is not reaching as far north as forecast.

Colder but more humid than yesterday here - the frost has all gone, the ice has melted and it just feels like a regular winter's day now, rather than the sparkling, scintillating day we had on Friday.

It's completely overcast, there's not much wind, 3.7, dew 2.7. The high so far is 3.7, compared to yesterday's 4.3.

Still mainly dry here with just the odd showery outbreak around 12:30. Heavy grey sky with a strong SE wind. Temperature has dipped a little and holding steady at 4.7c. A real raw feeling day.

The temperature's on the way down again, with the odd spot of drizzle in the air. It's all reminiscent of the approach of frontal snow in the 80s, except the drizzle would be "snizzle" instead.

As the snow is forecast to arrive after I've gone to bed, I've hatched a cunning plan. I'm going to leave the bathroom light on (it's downstairs), and that'll illuminate the patio. I'll then use a Nest camera to video the patio, meaning I should have a recording of how much snow falls (if any) and if it settles or not. I've a feeling I'll awake to a green lawn regardless!

A light westerly breeze with temps slightly falling now, maxed today at 2.6c and now at 2.4c, dew point sitting at 0c, there's some light drizzly rain falling so whether that turns to snow remains to be seen.
