Slightly higher up / further out in Edinburgh we still have the remains of snow that's partially melted and refrozen a couple of times. Was woken up by the rain last night, "can't be raining" I thought, but it was. Now untreated surfaces covered in that nasty glaze, which is now melting a little bit to make it even slippier, luckily I live on a main road so the pavement gritted

Cloud layer has been thinnig here the last while with blue appearing in the sky. Encouraging perhaps that this front is not reaching as far north as forecast. 

It's completely overcast, there's not much wind, 3.7, dew 2.7. The high so far is 3.7, compared to yesterday's 4.3.

A little later than planned eh? Any signs of sleet or snow mix or purely rain?

I just saw a few sleety wet flakes in the wind (finally) temp dropped back levelling at +1.8c.

Hopefully precipitation will become heavier soon.

Lawn frozen solid from recent days though other surfaces damp. 

I assume the warm sector/airmass hasn't arrived yet as its still 3.9c? If anything temp have fallen there if its 3.9c?

As the snow is forecast to arrive after I've gone to bed, I've hatched a cunning plan. I'm going to leave the bathroom light on (it's downstairs), and that'll illuminate the patio. I'll then use a Nest camera to video the patio, meaning I should have a recording of how much snow falls (if any) and if it settles or not. I've a feeling I'll awake to a green lawn regardless!

Oh I miss Snizzle - I remember a snowfall event from the 90s (95 I think) which gave about an inch of snizzle after 5 or so hours of the stuff!

We've got cold rain here with the temperature at 2.0c

It’s not due in until later this evening. When the first rain front passes the winds are forecast to back towards the south and the temperatures will climb…unfortunately.

The current drop in temperature is probably due to some atmospheric cooling with the heavy rain.
