Now just spitting with rain but the main difference from earlier is the wind has fallen light and the temp is 6.5C.

Expecting a proper frost Thursday night. The first of the year and probably winter so far.

Following on from all of the bad weather in the last day or so, we finally have some much drier and clearer weather with even a good view of Mars and Jupiter from my bedroom and living room windows.

Currently around 1°C here in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Cold front might have moved on but is still raining right now here at Folkestone where I'm approaching 18 mm. Mostly moderate stuff but persistent. Also a chilly 5 C in light winds.

If only it is January . . . Oh, wait . . .

A much colder start to today than of late with the first official air frost of the year being recorded at all three of my local stations which is also the first frost which we have had for quite a while.

Currently around -2°C here in Edinburgh and the temperature has been down to around -4°C at Edinburgh Airport.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

A complete change from yesterday, as was forecast: clear skies, a NNW'ly breeze and much colder, 3.2, dew 1.9, which is the low so far.

There was 17mm of rain here in the end from the front yesterday and the ground is, of course, thoroughly soggy - it's too windy for a hoar frost to form.

A proper crunchy air frost on almost certainly for tonight, I think with properly frozen ground.

Hard frost with a minimum of -4 C

Clear skies with great visibilty over the snowy Pentlands, Lammemuirs and Moorfoot hills

I noticed the BBC Weather have shown a couple of snowy scenes from Penicuik in Midlothian just south of here. The Pentlands camera is still plastered with snow

0.9c some frost still visible on roofs from the overnight low of 0.5c. Gorgeous clear blue sky and lovely sun with a bit of breeze to stir the trees.

Just below freezing at -0.4C , with frequent light snow showers, nice covering now. Will be interesting to see how long this cold snap hangs on in Scotland. Feel for you all down south, it’s even a struggle up here to get snow now 😞

After a bright start, it's gone all overcast thanks to some muck creeping in from the North Sea but hopefully clear skies will return before sundown. Feeling quite chilly and clammy at 2.7 C & mid 90% H under a light northerly breeze. 

Spring has arrived. 🤣

The high today was 2.8C and it's falling again. The frost stayed all day in the shade. A glorious sunny day for a change.

Frost and ice has persisted all day. Despite weather stations in Edinburgh having maximum temperatures between 1 or 2 C, my location is in a good frost hollow and the sun has stayed below the horizon all day. The snow line is above 120m here so had a lovely snowy, icy walk up to Braid Hill & Swanston

My day Max on both my digital thermometers was -0.4 and -0.3 C

It's already -1 C 🥶

Clear with a NW'ly breeze here this evening, having been a mostly sunny day - wonderful! The temperature's dropping slowly but has persistently been a degree or two above the GFS and MetO raw this afternoon/evening.

2.3, dew -0.7, the daytime high today being just 4.0 (the absolute high was 5.9 just after midnight).
