The wind's really picking up now, as modelled - the odd gust into the low 50s by the sudden roar and creaking noises coming from the wooden-framed upstairs. Only three or so hours left of this dross to endure, then winter finally begins!

11.3, dew 9.9, the odd spot of light warm-sector rain.

Squall line just passing through. It looked like a wall of fog moving across the fields. At dawn the temperature was 12.1c it’s now 10.8c and dropping. Winds gusting to mid 50s in moderate to heavy rain from a WSW direction.

Heavy Sleet on a fresh NNE wind, 2.5 C

Will it turn to snow on the back edge? There's quite a bit more precipitation to come through and it's only 1 C north of Perth.........I'll start a Snow Reports thread, we will hopefully need it soon

That squall line looks notable as it comes in from the west. Not long to wait.

For now only light drizzly rain in the fresh winds.

The rain here in NW Edinburgh has now turned to sleet and wet snow, and the temperature has dropped to around 2°C here in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Drizzly rain showers 7.7c and fairly breezy but nowhere near as bad as it was last night, which was pretty gusty here still at 1am this morning.

Happy new year!

The squall line has passed through here. Very uneventful in North Herts. Gusty with a bit of rain but the most notable feature was a very sharp 4C drop in temperature.

A very marked contrast in temperature this morning. Just before the rain and the squall line moved through it was very gusty with a temperature of 12c it’s now 6.5c in heavy rain but the winds have now dropped to a light WNW breeze.

Dry with a light breeze and 6.5 c.  The squall passed through here at 7 am with torrential rain but not as windy as I expected.

The squall's gone through here and it was most impressive! The winds peaked just in advance of the deluge, which ended up dropping 7mm of rain, peak rainfall rate of 61.6mm/hour. The temperature fell from 11.9 at 1:29 to 9.3 at 1:44 (so 2.6C in 15 minutes), it's now down to 8.4.

Finally the front is moving on from here, with blue sky appearing in the north. Starting to feel colder as well now, as the Arctic air starts to move in. 5.4°C.

Am seeing a corresponding temperature drop, it was 11.3 C half hour ago. Now 8.9 C and falling sharply.
