Overcast and also a near-gale - the yacht club up the road reporting a 1-hour mean of 38, gusts to 49. It's similar here, with the northerly wind roaring through my Scots pine tree (I guess that, at least, will feel at home this morning).

It's 8.1, following an overnight low of 7.5. The high yesterday was 12.3, and there's been 4.4mm of rain the past 24 hours.

Raining and according the phone weather app 6c here. It's breezy but nowhere near as gusty as yesterday or last night, right now.

An absolutely miserable day today - overcast, windy (starting off with gales, now with winds in the mid 20s, gusting into the 30s) and rain on and off as "lake effect" showers pack in from the North Sea.

Tomorrow will be more of the same, and I have to admit I can't help but think of the 1980s - the dense peppering of showers, in a non-stop stream, is very reminiscent of previous snowy spells... but it's around 8 degrees too warm!

Currently 8.1, dew 7.2, the high today being 8.4.

Frequent rain showers and brief sunny breaks all streaming in under a brisk NE airflow making the current 6.9 C & low 90% H feel colder than it needs to be. If only the 850s are in the -15 C. Don't know how much rain as fallen as the rain gauge appears to have stopped working, might explain why there seemed to have been very little rain over the weekend but it hasn't been that soaking anyway.

Update: Just popped into the back yard to investigate and noticed a tiny twig stuck inside the Vantage Davis's rain collector with one end resting on tipper's counterweight. Possibly a victim of Darragh? 🤣 Anyway, all cleaned up and normal service is resumed once again.

Another (mostly) miserable day today, generally overcast with a strengthening wind - it's gusting into the 40s again now and chucking it down, as a band of showers moves ever so slowly westwards over the area. As Jiries would say, it's illegal rain due to the 1030hPa pressure! (And on a more serious note, it's very unusual to get such strong winds and heavy rain given the high pressure - as we know, it's a combination of the gradient and the "lake effect" kicking in).

There are a couple of consolations though. One is that it's 8.0C, so even back in the 80s this would still just have been rain, not even close to snow, and two, the sun came out for about 7 minutes earlier. It was nice to see that it's still there!

Utterly miserable, as the fallout from Storm Darrargh continues.

Strong and gusty NE'lies, heavy drizzle alternating with light rain, everything sopping wet. The wind hasn't eased in days and when I popped to the shops earlier I saw several small trees down - I guess the incessant wind, first from the SW, then the NE, plus the sodden ground, finished them off.

7.1, dew 5.9, yesterday's high was 8.1 and last night's low was 6.8.

(EDIT: And I know what this all reminds me of - cross country in PE! They always chose a miserable day like today for it, so not only did you get knackered, you got soaked and cold too. No wonder I hate running with a passion!)

After a cloudy start, the Sun has broken through but the temperature has just dipped to -0.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank where an official air frost has just been recorded as a result. That has come a little bit too late for that air frost to be officially recorded for yesterday (the cut-off point for that was at 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) this morning) but this does means that an official air frost will be recorded there for today regardless of what happens tonight.

Dull and overcast with constant light drizzle, mod NE breeze making the current 6.4 C & mid 90% H feel cold and clammy.

I am appreciating the break from the Angry Atlantic Assault but days like today is making it rather difficult to love our climate. 🤣

Gloaming? More like groaning down here as the frankly uninspiring aftermath of Darragh continues.

It's still windy (see the wind graph from the nearby yacht club below); it's been drizzling all afternoon and it's a sea of mud out there. And the diurnal variation is minimal: it's varied between 6.8 and 7.8 all day.
