After a cloudy start to the day, the Sun has broken through in increasing amounts although it is still rather breezy.
Currently around 22°C here in Hawick.

Looking at reports from back home o have missed a serious storm with garages and roads flooded out The radar looks insane with huge areas of 200mm/h plus

The heaviest though is Fairford, which has seen between 200 and 250mm of rain in the last 6 hours! Yup, that's roughly 8-10 inches of rain today. Here's the 12-hour radar total via NetWeather's radar page:

Dry and largely sunny albeit hazy at times in the afternoon.
Loving the weather whatever it brings, snow, rain, wind, sun, heat, all great!

Here's the 24 hour rainfall chart from NW for your area, taken by summing the radar echoes over the course of the day. Yateley just crept into the 22-28 category in the end. And yup, Hook had a lot more!

It's currently 18.7, dew 18.0, with an overnight low of 15.4 (which, despite being well above average, felt pleasant compared to the previous two nights' 19C). Yesterday's high was 24.0 and we'll smash that effortlessly today.
And the Met Office “last 24 hours” page has the highest rainfall being Kenley with just 18.8mm. I wonder if any official measurements caught the downpour? EA sites maybe?
Could the radar have overstated the rain around Fairford? That amount, even if in a limited area, should surely have made the headlines this morning? Not mentioned e.g. on the Gloucestershire Live website

File it under "odd", I guess.

I've just had a look at the latest radar map and there doesn't appear to be much to that line of showers which you mentioned.
Furthermore, the fact that Edinburgh is currently experiencing a dry summer shows that it hardly ever rains there anyway as most on here may well know from my previous posts on here.
The data for here further emphasises that. There are no official stations close to where I am just now in Hawick and the only station in the Borders is at Charterhall where a total of 91.0 mm of rain was recorded during July which actually makes last month the second wettest month of this year there so far.
That is not all that far off double Edinburgh Gogarbank's total for the same month and adds up to an exceptionally wet month down here overall. Because of that, those of you up there can't really have any real complaints in that regard.
Incidentally, only had a weedy 0.2 mm yesterday much to the disappointment of my reseeded lawn in the back yad.
Indeed John, a few spots of light rain as that band is passing. More blue sky to the west and it's reached 21 C as a max. Same as SE England, which is rare!
This bit of SE England reached 24.6 earlier, albeit it's gone down to 23.4 as some cloud's moving in from the west. Hopefully that'll cap temperatures for the next few hours and avoid a very warm day! (MetO raw has 28C here this afternoon).
There's no wind to speak of and the dewpoint remains exceptionally high - 19.3.
