Let's not forget as well that before we even get to that, we have Storm Olivia on its way for tomorrow which has been officially named by the Portuguese Met Service.
Just recently, the south of England was impacted by Storm Nelson which had been named by the Spanish Met Service.
Since Spain and Portugal both make up the Iberian Peninsula, they share the same storm naming system as each other just as the UK and Ireland do.
Storm Olivia is therefore the next name on that list after Storm Nelson, and that is what is responsible for tomorrow's yellow warning for yet more rain here in Edinburgh.
As for Storm Kathleen (which was officially named by Met Eireann this time), that is yet another named storm on our own list to impact this country and of course, there has already been more named storms during this season on our list than in any other season since this system was first introduced back in 2015.
The main thing which it is expected to do is to bring a surge of warm air for a time over the UK.
SE England might get its first temperature of the year of over 20°C although even in this era of climate change and global warming, that is no big deal.
If that was going to be the first 30°C, I would be more concerned with that. However, April is often a month when we start to look for temperatures of over 20°C even here in Edinburgh just for those same reasons that we would expect to be looking for the first air frosts of any autumn/winter season in October.
Up until now though, Edinburgh hasn't even had a temperature of 15°C or higher just yet during this year but the latest models suggest that Storm Kathleen might just bring that over the weekend, so that would at least be something which I would welcome, albeit not the really strong winds which are forecast for then (Edinburgh is after all, under a yellow Met Office warning for wind during that period).
