Fair with some sunshine, a chilly 6.1 C & mid 80% H with a mod W breeze adding to the freshness. I have actually observed the slightest of frost on a flat felt roof at 7.30 am after a min of 3.2 C at 2.30 am.

It's hard to believe that we're now into the final month of the meteorological winter already.

Today is the very first day of that new month and since it is also the shortest month of the year, spring is clearly just around the corner.

Anyway, today has started off on a bright and sunny note here in Edinburgh, but the temperatures during last night once again, refused to drop and so I have woke up to yet another frost-free horror show once again.😡

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh was around 6°C as at 10am GMT (10:00 UTC) on Wednesday 1 February 2023 (since these are no longer daily threads, I am now including the date here so that everyone knows what day I am referring to even if they are reading this at some time in the distant future) which isn't even the least bit cold for this time of the year.😡
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Fair with some lovely winter sunshine where the 10 C & mid 80% H already felt pleasantly mild in light winds when I just popped out to get mother's papers.

Pretty much as good as you could expect for the first week in February. Mostly sunny with a moderate breeze and a temperature of 12.7C. Feeling spring-like outside. Cloud starting to increase now though.

This so-called "winter" just seems to be going from bad to worse here.

As I write, we should in the coldest time of the year on average as we are still in what should be the winter equivalent of high summer yet in spite of that, the temperature here in Edinburgh was still at around 10°C as at 8pm this evening (3 February 2023).

Absolutely pathetic!!😡

To make matters even worse, there continues to be no actual weather in terms of any form of precipitation apart from the odd smidgen of drizzle in the air on the odd occasion.

Today has been mostly overcast and our winter borefest goes on.

This is exactly why there just isn't the same interest in the weather as what there used to be, and why these threads now have to be created only a weekly basis instead of daily as a result.😡

I notice that now as when i first joined TWO, we used to get lot of pages and sometimes 2nd batch current condition on snow events.   Very boring HP cloud fest today and glad this HP moving away to allow more sunnier weather and feel warmer factor than this touted mild spell that failed to deliver sunshine with it.

For your location to get snow we need HP to do one and let us get some weather but HP say no and sent them to E Med which i will be watching their current condition with much interest.

Been overcast all day but dry. Maxed out at 11.9 C, now 9.7 C & high 70% H under a W breeze. The air quality does seem to be quite poor with that smoky stale scent.
