Would definitely have the heating on now if it was connected up.

14.5 C, but it'll soon warm up with sun already risen; no need for a temporary burst of heat

16.8c for me. Suspect the sun will be get that to around 20c by mid to late afternoon if I don't have too many windows open.

Won't bother for a while but in a few weeks time I might use the woodburner just to nudge temps up a bit if it ends up staying persistently less than 18c.

Day before yesterday light the cooker part on my new Rayburn for the first time. Soon warmed things up. Don't need the radiators on just yet.

Another sub-10C night and it's cooling down further.

19C upstairs, 17C downstairs. It was 23C upstairs when I went to bed last night.

Not much change into the afternoon, so as good a time as any to check the heating still works! 10 minutes later and indoor temperatures have gone up about 0.3C, and even though the heating's now off it'll probably rise a little bit more.

Good to know the heating's working for when it's needed, anyway!

I’m hoping it may not be needed after tomorrow morning for a few days a least, but as the outside temperature has been no higher than 13°C since Wednesday the heating has kicked in the last few days.

Between 18c and 20c seems to be the form both upstairs and downstairs this last week. This is down from 20c to 22c (on average) earlier in the month. I imagine that once the autumn winds pick up that things that the indoor temps will have a harder time staying at comfortable levels.

Then again, I'm still comparing it mentally to a couple of years ago. I had draughty 40-year-old windows (old aluminium double glazing) and a 20 year old boiler which wasn't very efficient. Both were replaced late last year. Last winter was much better as a result, plus I learned that boilers aren't meant to keep going on and off every few minutes all day long!

(And as for temperatures not exceeding 13C for several days, in recent years that's early to mid November territory for here. The heating would definitely be coming on by then!)

Rest get bonus warmth if there sun, TV, computers and oven will keep indoors warm.

After taking the valve cover off, and with a little gentle persuasion with a VDE screwdriver, it made the contact. A second try and it worked fine.

I have an old house with thick cob walls so indoor temp changes are slow both up and down. The ‘natural’ temperature except for winter and heatwaves is constant at around 18-19C, both upstairs (thatched roof) and down (before any solar heating takes place). We’ve decided that this winter the thermostat will be at 18C rather than 19C - interesting that others have decided 18C as well.

Set to 17°C here still and don’t think I’d change that lower even it saves money.
