Holding steady at 34.3 C after a peak of 35.1 C at 1.20 pm. Needless to say, I don't miss my old tomato greenhouse working days but is 32.0 C in my famed west facing hobby room even with curtains closed and a fan on.

I went in my shed early and thought of Jiries (45C btw, and 55C on the inside of the roof)

Although hot, no where nears as hot as the 39 i reached yesterday. The wind is up meaning theres a breeze getting through the house. Yesterday the heat seemed to lock in place.

Considering ive got covid currently and locked in my bedroom you can understand how nasty that was...

I understand commercial growers like to keep temperatures between 20 and 25c for tomatoes. Surely impossible in this heat, without active cooling.

Some stations are being very slow to update. The London ones seem to have peaked already (Heathrow down to 39.2 at 2pm).

It's 33C here but much more humid it would seem than inland hit area's. One local station has a dp now of 17.7C which is higher than it was a couple of hours ago!!

I think the approaching front is boosting the humidity.

Quick look at multiple other stations including official ones and would seem that Dp. Are widely in the 15-20C down along the Hampshire, IOW, and Dorset coastlines.

I hope the cold front edging in maintains the rain, I’d love to go and dance around in it when it arrives!

Have to factor in humidity to keep it moist and damp under glass as much as possible in order to keep plants and fruits succulent, but there is actually some transpiration cooling at the shaded bottom half if the plants are healthy enough, I tried to avoid working on the top half ("trimming" - as in unwinding bobbins to drop plants down as they grow - and they grow a foot a week) during any real hot weather such as today.

Of the above Coningsby could be a good candidate for 40c/new Record.

Sheffield and Ryhill 38.4c are pretty special too.
