All people are saying is that it’s questionable given the rate of rise. Don’t worry though, even if this isn’t somewhere will hit 40c

Hit 38.4c here, so beating yesterdays 38.2c. Only 0.4c to go to equal 2019. Then the chase for the 40 begins this afternoon.
Cambridgeshire, Ouse Valley, 40ft AMSL.
I think some parts could hit the record quite early today - maybe 1/2pm. I’m just hoping my lawn receives a drenching later tonight!

34.2c here. It just keeps on rising.
38c looks achievable.

Just been out for a walk - today reminiscent of extremely hot days in Melbourne prior to the southerly change coming through, with the hairdryer wind (from the NW usually in Melbourne) and dry, furnace like heat. Just hit 36C here.

I wonder how many times the record could be potentially broken today. I did feel we wouldn't make 40 but seems a certainty now.
Lots of rounded 38C appearing now in so many different locations.

No, it just niggles me it takes so many hottest day titles. So many compared to any other station, even surrounding ones
Just to clarify. Always felt there’s an influence that leads to this. It’s unnatural.

Re Heathrow, the annoying thing is it is perfectly sited in a Southerly airstream to get very high temperatures because it is on flat land in the lee of the highest part of the Downs / Surrey hills, gets that all important katabatic warming with low dewpoints (we saw this on 10 Aug 2003). So you would expect it to be up there on days like this.

35.6 here. I wonder if we can make 36 before the cooldown starts. It can't be too far away...
Edit: down to 35.3. I think 35.7C might be the peak but we will see...
My local site at Kew Gardens showing 38.4 at 11:00
