Blowtorch feel outside, still at least a few hours to peak temps. Reminds me of Bicester on 25/07/2019 except back then I had an air conditioned meeting room to spend the hours in!

Just popped out for a short walk from the house. It's that very dry heat at the moment but certainly feels intense. I did notice the first wisps of cloud to the south of us, the same cloud that has plagued Hampshire and other southern parts. Looks like it's coming my way but I'll be on the northern edge of it, so probably very hazy rather than thick enough to produce any showers ..... it has reached 35C on my very shaded garden thermometer.

I have to say it's been a but underwhelming in my area, I thought we might get a 35-36 but it topped out at 33 and has been steadily droppin since then. Too much cloud down here, but I am still eagerly following the numbers elsewhere!

On the BBC lunchtime forecast, a max of 42C was mentioned for tomorrow somewhere in the Lincolnshire area - possibly a little north or south of!

Some incredible temperatures being recorded in Edinburgh just now in my absence and whatever happens from now on, today will go down as the hottest day of this year so far up there.
The latest temperatures up there are 29.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 30.0°C at the botanic Gardens in Edinburgh and an astonishing 31°C at Edinburgh Airport.
That might well be a station record for Edinburgh Airport and that might also have given Edinburgh its second hottest day on record.
Here in Hawick in comparison, it's a relatively cool 28°C with a breeze and even some cloud at times.

Finished work at 2pm in central London Bank area. Not as many people about but I'd did spot two men drinking white wine in the full sun. Makes you proud to be British 😁🙃
