Today has started off on a fairly bright note here in Edinburgh with some cloud around, but also some fairly decent sunny spells at times.

Last night was slightly cooler than of late with an overnight minimum temperature of 12.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am BST (07:00 UTC) was around 14°C here in Edinburgh with a much fresher feel to things.

Once again the "bad" weather turns out to be much better than the "good" weather 

No sign of even a drop of rain never mind the washout the models were showing during the week. It's been similar to last Saturday with a lot of sun, wind and a max of 18.2C.

Over 10 hours of sun which is more than any of the weekdays managed apart from Thursday.

Today was a recently decent day here overall in Edinburgh and in the end, a total of 8.9 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

This means that a total of just 16.0 or more hours of sunshine now need to be recorded there between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average there and there are still another 5 days left of this month after today.

There was a few showers around during this afternoon and evening which resulted in a total of 1.8 mm of rain being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank, but these showers failed to register at all at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Today was also warmer than expected, and only slightly cooler than of late with a maximum temperature of 20.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 10pm BST (21:00 UTC) this evening was around 12°C here in Edinburgh.
