RVP travels with the squad for the game at Barca, amazing really as he was originally ruled out for 6 weeks ( what is that all about? ) does make you wonder if he will really play a part or is it a moral booster ??

Could all be a little Kidology by Wenger regarding the possible absentees. Arsenal really do need RVP he is more than capable of scoring goals against any side and his recent run of games in my opinion have given Arsenal a real cutting edge. RVP is a top top player.

Much as it pains me to say it, I hope Arsenal put Barca out this evening. I'd love to see an all London final at the home of football, with Spurs beating Arsenal in the final minute of the game. Won't happen of course.

I despise - in no particular order - Platini, Septic Bladder and Barcelona. - Platini and Bladder because they are loathsome creatures; Barcelona (gets tin hat ready) because I find their tippy tappying crap boring to watch. Given the choice of watching Arsenal or Barcelona in full flow I'd opt for the former.

One of the keys for me this evening is how much protection officials have been told to provide for Barca. After all, the nightmare scenario for Platini and Bladder would be an all EPL final made far more likely by Barca's exit.

My thoughts are firmly fixed on tomorrow and how much cash I'll have to scrape together IF I can find that elusive ticket!!

My thoughts? Well I think of the four EPL teams left in the competiton earlier this evening Arsenal were the most tailor made for Barca, in that they play (without Walcott) too narrow - as evidenced by Adriano and Alves having almost unfettered access up and down the wings all evening. The only way to keep those two (or Maxwell when he plays) quiet is to play with more width to keep them occupied. That removes one option at least and will give what I still reckon is a dodgy back four more to worry about.

No doubt there will be some who contend this is proof that the EPL isn't what it's cracked up to be - as seen by the gulf between Arsenal and Barca. It's nothing of the sort.

And that is the crux. The Champions League is a goldmine and not only allows the clubs within it to pay obscene amounts of money to young men who often would struggle to wire a plug, but the carrot also makes other wannabe clubs increase their wages to attracts even the second and third tier of players (in terms of quality).

It's competitions like the Champions League which generate the sort of global interest which runs off into the TV deals for the elite national leagues, which in turn pour into the bank accounts of the players.

On another matter, I felt sorry for 'PeterStorey' an Arsenal fan - and seemingly regular punchbag - on RedCafe. It was actually quite painful watching him dig an even bigger hole for himself as the Spurs-AC Milan thread went on. His post-match comments were actually quite cringeworthy.

A sample of Mr Storey's ramblings (after the thread went O/T): ''Barca were in deep shite. No overall lead and about to run out of gas.''

He should go on tour with gags like that.

I will not gloat however, given we could be drawn against Barca in the QFs and it will be game over.

I will say one thing though, we'll put up a better fight than Arsenal and that's principally because Arsenal are deficient in the holding midfield department - a mistake Wenger will continue to rue. Yes, I know Song can fulfil that role, but personally I'm not a great fan.

Great result for Spurs last night...very suprised the game was a 0 - 0 effort very unlike Spurs ! Have a sneaky feeling that Spurs may get drawn against Man U or Marseille in the next round.

Watched the game last night - disciplined performance by Spurs, although they ran their luck close on a number of occasions, not least with that desperate clearance off the line - well done that man!
