we saw over 20mm of rain in an hour yesterday, making it one of the most intense rain events from a storm in recent years. had a bit of thunder in it, but not too much. Say 1 strike every 3 or 4 mins. What was impressive was there was no cell there an hour before It erupted quickly.

anyone got eyes and ears up in Scotland? that rain band hasnt really shifted much since last night... theres an Amber warning out for it. 100mm +?

Active storm centre there. Not so much in the way of rain but some really loud thunder that rattled the house.

Is the thunder activity for your area above average for this summer, plus May, so far, or is it the same? (I'm new for central/northern England).

Lowestoft (where I came) seem to have missed out on many storms from the land this summer so far. The number of storms in Sheffield since May 2021 has been similar to Lowestoft in a typical unsettled Summer (like that of 2012).

brief but silly amount of rain here - its a good jobs the showers are moving through more quickly today or there would be issues. Hail too. No Pace as of yet

Below. Only today has seen anything particularly thundery since last August. There's been the odd day here and there with a thundery shower, but they've more or less been "one rumble wonders" this summer.

Manchester can get some decent storms. I have recorded a few over the last 7-8 years, but we don't get anything like what the usual areas get.

Cracking storm in Upper Wharfedale this afternoon, 2nd day in a row. Some bright discharges coming down onto the limestone pavements above Hubberholme. We managed to get to the pub in Buckden as the heavens opened!

Looks like the Trafford Hospital in Manchester got a direct hit with lightning setting the roof on fire. Our 2nd storm here in upper Wharfedale has died away for now after some crashing thunder
