After yesterday morning's lovely sunshine, this morning has started off with a return to constant grey skies, more easterly muck and a temperature of around 5°C.

Low cloud and mist earlier on this morning has cleared away and is currently fine with sunshine, thus making the current 10.4 c & 82% h feel springlike for it in calm air.

The min of 4.3 c at 3.10 am wasn't enough to give us a frost.

Strange things happening in the Cairngorms again today. Yesterday the weather station at 1242m altitude reported a temperature of 17C! Today it has gone up to 9.2C at 11am which makes it as warm as anywhere else in Scotland, and most of the mainland UK. Is this a dodgy sensor or some weird foehn effect?

Still overcast here and now that we are into our so-called "spring", the temperatures are now refusing to rise.

Currently around 3°C here in Edinburgh which isn't even any higher than what the temperature was during the overnight period.

I can tell you there is a lot of heather burning going on around cairngorm area at present, to the extent of a large smoke cloud hovering over the mountains, can almost see it on the sat photos, was wondering if it might be the heat from the fires ??! Just a thought.

It definitely won't be that.
An inversion or foehn is possible or sun somehow striking where it shouldn't in the case.

Maximum just 3.4C today here. there was a hint of brightness early afternoon.
