Today was our sunniest day of this winter so far as a total of 6.2 hours of sunshine was recorded for today in the end, at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This means that a minimum total of just 2.7 more hours of sunshine need to be recorded between now and the end of this month, in order to this month to go down as what would be only the first sunnier than average month there since away back in May 2020.With tomorrow also being forecast to be sunny, there is no reason why that target can't be reached by this time tomorrow and with another week of this month still to go, it is looking as though we are finally at long, long last about to end that long run of duller than average months at that particular station which has been ongoing ever since then. However, our increasingly long wait for that elusive first official ice day since 1 March 2018 goes on as today's officially recorded maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 2.7°C.However, the temperatures are dropping away once again with yet another official air frost already being recorded at Edinburgh Airport and the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.Meanwhile, the temperature at 6pm this evening was ranging from -1°C at Edinburgh Airport up to +0.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
