Quite agree. UEFA should surely have taken the decision a few days ago to either postpone the game meantime, or at the very least have it played behind closed doors.

Looks like money means more to UEFA than the well-being of football fans.

I'm pretty sure the measures will start to come in early next week. We will probably be 200 cases a day by then. If most people want the restrictions to start it will be easier for the government to implement. 

Remember this is Liverpool, so there will also be about 5000 fans flying in from Norway.

The modelling is all about what is least damaging politically. Bring in restrictions when the plebs want them, so the govt cant be blamed for the inconvenience. But the problem is that its too late now. The virus is rampant, and only a tiny number are being tested on purpose to keep the numbers down

I decided not to do anything on TWO about Cheltenham this year and haven't provided any quotes / forecasts to the media. That's because IMHO it should have been cancelled. 

That is complete crap, we've tested far more than most countries and have ramped it up from today. Neither is the virus rampant in this country

Call after call to LBC today from people with the correct symptoms or know people with the correct symptoms, being refused tests because they haven't been abroad or in contact with someone from Italy

I’ve had it. My friends have all phoned NHS 111 and they’ve all been told several times that as they haven’t been to an at risk area they can’t be tested and they should even self isolate.

These people are saying they are as ill as they’ve ever been, and they still can’t do a test.

The reason we’ve got relatively low numbers in this country at the moment is because they’re only been testing about 1,500 a day. I think the infection has been widespread for a month now.

They may be upping the testing but they haven’t put Ischgl on a high risk list, despite knowing about this for days. It is a massive cluster. Six of us have been back in Chichester going about their daily life. I suspect we’ll find a big cluster in Chichester two weeks.

The increase in testing is way too late. I think it was obvious six weeks ago that we should have been doing surveillance screening. Lives are at risk here.

"Rampant" might be rather overstating the situation, but it's certainly bound to be far more widespread than the testing numbers suggest.

I would hope - and believe - that the CMO and his people are leading this, not Cummings and Johnson.

We seem to me to be treading that very fine line referred to by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus when he spoke of balancing action against the wider considerations.

Tedros was clearly referring to the UK and US in his comments

Of course it is, same for every country. We can't test everyone who has flu like symptoms so have to choose carefully who to test.

I doubt he was referring to the UK except in his comments about the need to tread that fine line between overreacting and under-reacting, having regard for those other important considerations.

It's been circulating for a while - there's no other plausible explanation for what we're seeing.

But, I say again, if it's been circulating unnoticed - like in northern Italy and California - then for many people it's not sufficiently worrying for them to seek medical assistance.

The focus must be on trying to insulate the vulnerable groups.
