Well, last night was interesting for while as we had some sleet and wet snow here in the north of Edinburgh (that gave us only our first snowflakes of this winter, believe it or not), which quickly turned back to rain although there is a good covering of snow on the Pentland Hills.
Rather frustratingly though, this once again resulted in the temperatures just not quite managing to fall low enough for an official air frost at either Edinburgh Gogarbank or the botanic gardens in Edinburgh although we did very briefly, get an official air frost at Edinburgh Airport before that rain, sleet and snow moved in during last night. However, it seems as though we just can't seem to get an air frost here these days although today has least started off on a bright and sunny note with all of that precipitation having cleared away.
That particular event produced a total of 3.4 mm of precipitation (with some of that falling as sleet and wet snow) being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 4.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 0.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 1.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was around 1°C here in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
