Here in Edinburgh, we have a rather unusual situation where an official air frost has been recorded at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, but with that being the only one of my three local stations where that has happened which means that both Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Gogarbank remain completely frost-free under much cloudier skies, although the temperature at Edinburgh Airport did briefly touch 0°C on two different occasions during the early hours of this morning, so there could have been an air frost there if that temperature had been reported to the nearest 0.1°C instead of the nearest 1°C.

Looking outside, I don't actually see any frost but those clear skies which allowed that air frost to be recorded at the botanic gardens can still be seen to my east (which should at least, allow us to see the sunrise later on) whilst that veil of cloud which prevented us from getting a frost at those two other stations has now made a greater incursion from the west, thus causing any frost which might have been around to disappear.

All of this means that there has been quite a big variation in last night's overall minimum temperature across my three local stations as that ranged from -1.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh under those much clearer skies, to +1.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank under that cloud cover.

There is also quite a big variation across my three local stations, in the latest temperature at 7am this morning which is ranging from -0.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh to +3.5°C (which isn't even the least bit cold for this time of the year) at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Obviously the Botanic Gardens (and indeed my own garden) are in England as the air frost was an England only event John?

The temperature is fluctuating a bit here and is currently 1.2°C with light winds currently.

Clear apart from some high cirrus. Very light ENE breeze. Current temperature 0.3c.
Very white on the cars and grass giving the appearance of a snow light through the house....(I wish)

Well, I had expected that to be an England only event due to the models having the actual centre of high being positioned to our south which I was therefore expecting to result in a milder westerly being fed in across most of Scotland.

Because of that, I wasn't expecting any air frost here and so, I'm not surprised that Edinburgh Gogarbank (which is the main station for which I report most of the statistics on this forum) has continued to remain frost-free with a temperature of 4.0°C as at 8am this morning.

Now that it has got that much lighter though, the frost has become much more visible (that is always difficult to spot from my usual indoors position when it is dark) and the temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh was still just below freezing at -0.2°C as at 8am this morning.

There is however, quite a lot of cloud around and I still wouldn't be surprised if this is the only frost that we see with the official forecast being for tonight to be much cloudier here and a bit milder, and with the rest of the UK being under that milder air mass by the end of the coming week.

In the meantime though, I suppose that this may well make it an England only event from tonight onwards in the manner in which I have expected.

EDIT:

Air pressure is also very high and was up to 1041.6mb and still rising at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

Clear, calm, dry; ground frost, with the bottom of my garden being noticeably whiter than the top, though air temp only dropped to 1.7*C overnight.

3.6*C; 1041.7mb rising.

I worked out that in the last 48 hours the air pressure has steadily risen 36mb, which is a remarkably large rise in that time, and I expect that similar rises can be reported from other locations.
