Some cloud around but some clear spells as well.

In the end, a total of 6.0 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 5.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh with some of that falling as sleet and wet snow, as this rather wet and miserable start to this so-called "spring" goes on.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 1.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This morning has started off on a bright and sunny note and a total of 48 minutes of sunshine has already been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, which already beats yesterday's total for that entire day.

However, this morning is not as cold as yesterday morning as there has still been too much wind around (and at times, too much cloud), which prevented the temperatures from dropping by all that much during the night, so no official air frost this morning at any of my three local stations.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 1.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 1.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 3.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

An almost completely sunny morning means that a total of 4.5 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

It's still breezy (though not excessively so) and there some fair weather cumulus clouds around, though not enough to spoil the sunshine in any way.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 7.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so it's already warmer than what it was yesterday although not all that warm for this time of the year.

Today's maximum temperature was 8.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A much cloudier end to today means that in the end, a total of 6.8 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank but with nothing at all in that department since 3pm this afternoon.

In addition to that, it has also now just started to rain here in Edinburgh as I write.

After dropping for a while during the late afternoon and early evening, the temperatures have also gone up a bit once again over the last hour or so.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 6.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
