Here in Edinburgh, it's rather misty with a lot of high cloud around although the Sun is just about managing to be seen through that at times.

Nevertheless, our frost-free hell goes on as the temperatures refused to drop any further during the early hours of this morning than what it had already done so by midnight.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 1.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 3.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Fine and sunny - and it's ready reached 14.6 C! It might be the sun shining on the station but it was pretty consistent at showing 11 c under full sunshine all day yesterday. The minimum is 4.4 C at 5 am, given my coastal location.

13C here, sunny with light winds could go a way higher yet.

It was thick fog late evening here I was expecting a murky start but must have blown away.

There has been some decent spells of sunshine during this morning and a total of 2.4 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far as at 12 noon, although there is also a lot of cloud around.

Nevertheless, today is already warmer here than what it was yesterday, although not to the same extent as what is being experienced elsewhere (not surprising given that this is after all, the most boring part of the UK when it comes to our weather).

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 12.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This afternoon has brought plenty of hazy sunshine with a total of 5.3 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far as at 4pm this afternoon. However, it is now much cloudier which means any the final total for today is unlikely to be much above what I have just reported if there is any further addition to that total at all.

Today has also turned out to be another expectionally warm day for this time of the year. it's nowhere near as warm as what it is in other parts of the UK, but it is still far warmer than what it should be at this time of the year and the temperatures haven't even maxed out for today just yet.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 13.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

15C briefly but with sun barely officially set it's cooling rapidly, 11C now.

Things have really moved on today with first small daffodils open and early larger types showing colour.

Grass is growing rather than just greening up, more than some years at the start of April.

The most striking thing is the absolute contrast with this time last year, when several days stayed well below freezing, with intermittent true whiteout conditions when fine blowing and falling snow combined into a kind of fog.

Yet another crap cloudy mild day with no sign of the sun that was forecast

Dire temperatures with a min of 7.1C and max of 15.6C . Typical cloudy mild October day

I expect tomorrow will bring more of the same. Really close to breaking point having to endure this complete and utter garbage day in day out.
