The final weekend of the meteorological winter has started off on a rather drab and grey note as our borefest goes on.

In addition to that, last night was also a night where the temperatures refused to drop and so, our frost-free hell goes on. In fact, the temperatures actually went back up a bit during the early hours of this morning.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 9.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 11.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This morning has just been one massive and boring grey nothingness with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.

There is some clearer areas of the sky but even those are filled with high cloud and so, nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 boon.

Nevertheless, it is warm yet again and so, the temperature at 12 noon was 14.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Clear skies with unbroken sunshine and no wind, a vast improvement on yesterday's foggy weather. At 11 c & 82% h, that is never going to break backyard heat records but the noon sunshine is packing quite a punch.

For a while during this afternoon, the Sun began to break though a bit more and the result of that is that a total of 1.4 hours of sunshine has now been recorded for today so far as at 4pm this afternoon.

However, it then wasn't long before much darker clouds started to move in from the west and now, it's raining here in Edinburgh as I write.

It has also been very windy during this afternoon with maximum wind gusts of up to 33.6mph from the SW at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

However, today has also been yet another exceptionally warm day for this time of year, although the temperatures then dropped by quite a bit once the rain moved in.

Today's maximum temperature was 15.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 11.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Another day of weather to be endured not enjoyed. Though it is debatable whether such extreme blandness can even be classified as weather

Hazy sunshine during the morning with the usual vile wind then the cloud thickened up in the afternoon making it feel really unpleasant. Peaked at 11.1C but felt nowhere near as high as that. Woolly hat needed again to ameliorate the effects of the rank southerly winds which have barely let up for a fortnight. Any change to westerlies or northerlies would represent a huge improvement from this utter rubbish.

Don't you just love it when the UK is experiencing temperatures in mid to high teens for February and cities in southern Europe like Athens are struggling to get temperatures up to mid single digits under cold rain and sleet, followed by more rain and sleet and continuing day after day?

A dull end to today means that in the end, a total of just 1.4 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank with no further additions to that total since my last report here.

On the other hand, the rain which moved in at around that time didn't last for long either which means that a total of just 0.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8pm this evening along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 10.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
