Rather cloudy and mild with the temperatures once again, refusing to drop as a result of there being too much cloud around.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was around 10°C.

Clear sky and 10.6C, it should get very mild but with wind gusting near 50mph perhaps not.
It will be warmest so far this year - which won't be hard since only reached 11.3C on 17th Feb.

Here in Edinburgh, the borefest goes on as today has started off with yet more constant grey skies and nothing which is even remotely interesting, actually happening.

As the temperature once again refused to drop during last night, our frost-free hell goes on and now, it is ridiculously mild for this time of the morning and for such an early point in the year where we are after, supposed to still be in "winter".

Last night's minimum temperature was 9.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and I've seen lower values for that even in the middle of summer.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 11.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The clouds from earlier on have broken up quite nicely now although a total of just exactly an hour of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

As far as the temperatures are concerned though, this is just getting a bit ridiculous now as there has been days even in the middle of summer when it hasn't been as warm as what it has now become which makes it hard to believe that this is actually still our "winter".

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 13.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and a ridiculously warm 14.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which already makes today, the warmest day of this "winter" at all three of my local stations, as well as the warmest day of this year so far at all three of my local stations.

Beautiful day now. The cloud has melted away to full sunshine and the temperature has climbed to 15oc. Feels lovely and warm in the sun out of the breeze. The honey bees are going ballistic for my spring crocus. Splendid day!

The Sun is still shining here in Edinburgh as I write and a total of 4.3 hours of sunshine has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank, as at 4pm this afternoon. This means that we have now had more sunshine during this month than the 1981-2010 February average for that station which means that whatever happens between now and the end of this month, this month was now go down as being sunnier than average overall.

There is some high cloud around, but the skies are still mostly clear. At the same time, it has been an exceptionally warm day here which means that today can't be all that far away from being our warmest February day on record here in Edinburgh, especially at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which has recorded the highest temperatures out of all of my three local stations.

Today's all important maximum temperature was 14.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 12.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

After gusts to 50mph this morning wind suddenly fell light this afternoon and temperature reached 13.6C with near continuous sunshine.

It's surprising but visibility is excellent and landscape colours seemed especially striking

A lovely early summer’s day with temperatures nudging 17°C at home earlier with good bright and sunny spells. Currently 13°C.

The 18.3°C earlier inland at Aboyne is a new February Scottish record.

A fairly sunny end to today means that in the end, a total of 5.2 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank with that total also including the first recorded sunshine of this year to have occurred after 5pm on any given day.

The temperatures are now falling away under clear skies, but the fact that it is still mild in spite of that shows just how exceptionally warm for this time of year, that today has been.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 10.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
