continuing to fall (with plenty of amber and even the odd red radar echos) am I the only one who thinks it’s bizarre that the MetO doesn’t have any snow weather warnings out for southern England - not even a yellow - especially given its Friday afternoon and there are likely to be plenty of journeys out of London and into snowy Oxon/Berks/Hants?
Someone took a big bite out of the "blob" at around 3.30, just as it was approaching Portsmouth
A few flurries of snow, especially earlier on this morning but that's about it! Hardly worth a mention, seeing how well parts of the south have done (assuming you like snow!) Still a patchy cm or so on the grass, mainly. Temp. at 1.6 C and did hit a high of 3 C earlier today.
My colleague in the west of Basingstoke now reporting 7" of snow. I think we're probably down to about 2" now, but it is snowing persistently and down to 0.4C. Hopefully the "drip drip" will stop shortly!

Unusually, the Chilts has been a snow shield today despite the meto auto showing heavy snow.
Just a few sprinkles since 9 this morning.
Not expecting any more.

The radar returns just seem to be self-perpetuating over the north Hampshire downs with some really heavy stuff there. Precip type suggests it may now be snow back home.

We had some impressive sized flakes of snow mixed in with the sleet in the last half hour, but that's all, back to rain now.

My wife went out in the car at 4.30 and there is over 1cm of snow in the space my car vacated. The snow is still coming down persistently.
We lost a fair amount of depth during the day due to thaw. We were at 8cm first thing this morning, went down to 4cm, but we're now back up to 5cm (as of 20 minutes ago).
Must be one of the least expected snow days in terms of the amount we have here on the edge of the Berkshire Downs @ 450' ASL.Yesterday it looked like 2" would be it, then we had that very isolated Amber warning issued at 4am, woke up to 5" or maybe a bit less with a forecast of snow till lunchtime. That forecast kept on creeping later into the day, and it has only just really stopped now. End result is between 7 and 8".Trees and branches on the lanes round here are fully bent over, so although the road itself is passable in terms of snow amounts, a lot are blocked in reality.

Still, moderate snow falling here but too warm to settle much on the surfaces that are clear. Temperature needs to fall to 0c a lot of slush out there.

The snow really is having a bad effect on the Basingstoke area. Expect more of this on the news later.

Cant work out what’s happening here! Metoffice automated says heavy snow until 10pm. BBC automated says sleet until 1am....not checked radar, but I do know that the lamppost shows heavy snow! 😎
