The weather might well be getting interesting elsewhere, but nothing is happening in this part of the world as usual as our snowless hell goes on with no hope of that ending any time soon here.

This means that our borefest goes on and once again, the temperatures are refusing to drop as a result of there being too much cloud around.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 1.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 1.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Still 1.5c here in Exeter and the sky now looks like its clouded over or maybe its cirrus because i cant see the stars and temp really not falling below 1.5c here and pressure falling! Typical the minute temps try to fall to freezing the min cloud comes rolling in to prevent a frost from forming and temperatures from plummeting below freezing etc! TYPICAL!

looks like Exeter will not only miss out on the snow but it won't even get cold enough for a damn frost! Ops i thought this was the moaning thread after reading your post! -Sorry.

Anyway, I wouldn't even mind getting some of your cold rain just now as this would show that at least something is happening instead of that constant borefest which we have had to endure throughout this so-called "winter", and since we could really do with making up that growing massive rainfall deficit which has now left our rivers running at very low levels here (the fact that it hardly ever even rains here any more shows just how boring our weather has become in this part of the world).

As a means of consolation though, the sky has now cleared and some ground frost has started to develop, although the temperatures above ground level are still refusing to drop which means that we still don't yet have any actual official air frost at any of my three local stations as I write.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 2am this morning was 2.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 0.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

At the moment, it's hard to tell what the weather is doing just now.

The radar maps are telling me that it's now snowing here but I am looking outside all the time, and don't actually see any snow here. What is falling looks more just like light rain to me. At the same time, the roads and pavements rather than turning white, are just getting damper.

This means that the ground frost which had started to form earlier on wasn't around for long before it then disappeared and although we did briefly get an official air frost at Edinburgh Airport, the temperatures have now jumped back up over the last few hours.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4am this morning was 2.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 1.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There has at least been a bit more interesting during the night than of late and we even had a bit of sleet here for a while. In addition to that, the top of the Pentland Hills to my south have quite a good covering of snow and are now looking whiter as a result, than at any other point in time during this so-called "winter".

However, it didn't take long for that sleet to turn back to rain here and although this rainfall is very welcome due to the very dry conditions which we have been experiencing for so long now, our snowless hell goes on which proves the point which I made on the opening post of this thread that we have absolutely no chance of getting any snow in this part of the world during this so-called "winter".

The result of this though is that a total of 2.6 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning along with 2.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.

We did have a brief respite from the wet weather a short while ago, but is now raining here once again as we have gone into what has now become an overcast, wet and miserable start to this morning.

It is also yet another frost-free morning although we did very briefly get an official air frost at Edinburgh Airport before the rain and sleet moved in.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 0.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, -1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 0.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 1.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 1.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

So much then for this "cold" spell which we are meant to be experiencing just now!!

a BIG Rise in temperature from cold icy sleety rain earlier to spits of drizzle and light rain and temps of 6c here in Exeter. YUCK!

I thought it was meant to get colder throughout the day and temp was meant to drop and precipitation turn to snow not the exact opposite!

The rain from earlier on has been very slowly and gradually clearing away, and it is beginning to brighten up a bit with the Sun making the odd appearance. However, nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 1pm this afternoon.

A total of 3.4 mm of rain has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 1pm this afternoon along with 3.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That makes today, the wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 1pm this afternoon was 2.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
