This afternoon brought us some cloud but also some fairly decent sunny spells at times and in the end, a total of 1.4 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank. However, this still leaves us needing a total of at least 1.3 more hours of sunshine during the last 4 days of this month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average overall.

The wind has died down a little bit, but it is still windy nevertheless with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 28.6mph from the NW at 4pm this afternoon.

Today's maximum temperature was 5.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 4.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Anyway and before I continue with my own latest report, I can confirm that as it is now getting lighter at nights, we have now just had our first recorded sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank of this year to have occurred after 4pm in the afternoon. This means 1.5 hours of sunshine was actually today's final at that station which means that we now only need at least another 1.2 hours of sunshine in total during the last 4 days of this month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average overall at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Whilst it continues to get lighter at nights though, this completely snowless hell which is known as our so-called "winter" which we have had to endure in this part of the world goes on, although with the wind now gradually dying down, the temperatures have started to drop a bit under those clear skies.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 2.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Looking at the latest rainfall radar - looks like some heavy showers pushed southwards through NE Scotland and right through Aberdeen? did the snow settle?

Back here in Exeter it's been a struggle to drop temperatures below 4c. It's 3.8c now . winds died down a little though.
