Loving the weather whatever it brings, snow, rain, wind, sun, heat, all great!

The freezing/snow level this afternoon and evening seem to be dropping slowly and steadily now (as predicted). Hopefully the precipitation will hang around until later this evening/overnight here when it is likely to be of snow.
Current conditions (personal WS)
Went a short excursion out towards Alford this afternoon. Snow line was around 200-250m. Thought about Suie/Gartly Moor for some sledging with the kids but I suspect it would have been too wild and dodgy getting the car in and out!
Just had (what looks like) a hail shower here and it looks like it may stick around.
And there has been. It’s nice to wake up to a covering of snow and listen to the quiet sound of car tyres “crunch” on snow as an occasional car creeps almost silently down the street.
By the time showers turned to snow they were very short lived at least here a bit inland.
A few snowflakes on prone surfaces here from probably the last shower to hit.

Here are some photos that I took last week in Watford's snowfall. Some were on the BBC weather, check out my blog for stats on the snowfall and loads more photographs on Flickr.

At the moment, it's hard to tell what the weather is doing just now.
The radar maps are telling me that it's now snowing here but I am looking outside all the time, and don't actually see any snow here (it could be different in the south of Edinburgh though, which is higher up and further inland from here). What is falling just now looks more like light rain to me. At the same time, the roads and pavements rather than turning white, are just getting damper.
Some ground frost had started to form earlier on, but that wasn't around for long before it then disappeared and although we did briefly get an official air frost at Edinburgh Airport, the temperatures have now jumped back up over the last few hours.
