Despite the fact that it is windy with a lot of cloud around, the temperatures are still gradually dropping as the colder air has started to dig in although we are not yet at the point where we can say that it is the least bit cold. Nevertheless, it is nowhere near as mild as it was at this time exactly a day ago.
In the end, a total of 2.6 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 2.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This makes yesterday the wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations.
Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 3.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The skies cleared for a while after midnight and at that time, it had looked as though the temperatures might drop away nicely. However, it then clouded over again which then resulted in the temperature going back up (so much then, for this so-called "colder" air). The skies have now cleared once again but since it isn't actually the least bit cold here for this time of year, our frost-free and snowless hell goes on.
It is very windy though with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank gusting up to 33.6mph from the WNW at 8am this morning.
Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 2.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 3.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The Sun is coming and going here in Edinburgh just now but because this morning was rather cloudy morning, nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.
It is also very windy as well with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank now gusting up to 36.7 from the WNW as at 12 noon.
That wind is making it feel a lot colder than what it actually is since it isn't actually the least bit cold for this time of the year.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 5.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Loving the weather whatever it brings, snow, rain, wind, sun, heat, all great!
Strong to gale force NW winds, broken cloud, 5.5 C @ 71% RH and pressure has risen to 994 mb.
Winds easing from earlier. Temp 6dc so a bit higher than expected. In west central belt so no showers making it south in northerly nwn wind. Bright and clear
For what it's worth this has to be the strongest wind of the winter so far.
5 C. Northerly gale force 8 and enough to blow over large pots, metal garden furniture and test the fences facing the wind.
