Blackburn seemingly in the firing line tonight.

Amazing how wrong the precip charts were. Literally everywhere but the northwest has lying snow.

To be fair to the Euro4 (bar any changes in the next few hours), it has hugely overdone the snow potential for the west of our region, but it did pick up lying snow in the South Midlands and parts of the SE - for whatever reason most of us ignored this signal.

Around 2cm lying now. Radar shows another clump heading our way so fingers crossed.

Nice.

I always like seeing snow on vegetation. It makes everything quite atmospheric.

Just had a 10 min shower of small, icy flakes. As the ground is totally frozen now (like an ice rink!), it has given a dusting.

Looking at the radar, the last clump only clipped us, but a much bigger (with brighter echoes) is heading right this way. Fingers crossed it doesn't fragment first...

Hi all, you might of expected the northwest to have done exceptionally well out of this episode of wintery weather. Here in Burnley we have had a few heavy snow showers, only the last one at 8.50pm started to settle on the ground and not melt. Nice to see it all falling heavy. Waiting for next week

Cheers Paul. S

If it arrives and doesn’t fragment it should be proper snow given the temperature..

Snowing quite heavily here in Tredegar at the moment! It appears that I'm under a lovely little Welsh streamer!

Further snow showers this evening giving an estimated 3cm. Still snowing lightly.

This is the first time this winter when I have being watching the showers on the radar and trying to work out what will hit here what might develop and what will miss and what will simply fizzle. Even given the general wind direction it's never easy and that's what makes it so fascinating!

I have a sneaky feeling that them thar hills above Gusty and IanDJ(far south east of Kent) might be the sweet spot tonight. I'd love to be back in Hawkinge for this one. I reckon 5-10cm up there by the morning.  Enjoy gents, you're overdue a decent fall.

Hazlemere just up the hill from High Wycombe makes the BBC news. We have about 2 inches level all frozen. Have no idea how to load photos on here. Failed so many times before.
