A clear, cold and frosty start to this morning with an official air frost being recorded at all three of my local stations (it's not been very often that I've been able to say that during this so-called "winter").

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was -1.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, -3°C at Edinburgh Airport and -0.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Another absolutely disgusting dull dark and depressing frost free morning. Min:1.7C.

This week is beyond awful and the worst yet from this unmitigated disaster of a non-winter.

A fair day with sunny spells and bubbly-type cumulus (trying to get big enough to produce showers but failing in doing so). The 6.6 c & 77% h does feel rather keen in the moderate N wind.

We had a sunny morning with a decent frost on the ground today, unlike last week when cloud prevented the forecast lows of -4C to -5C from occurring. Don't think it was quite an official air frost though.

A mostly complete sunny afternoon means that in the end, a total of 4.8 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank. This makes today, the sunniest day of both this month and this year so far, as well as the third sunniest day of this winter so far.

However, it has now clouded over quite a lot and everyone who regularly reads my reports on these threads will know full well, exactly what this always leads to in terms of the temperatures refusing to drop at night (two frosty nights in a row would of course, be asking too much as far as this so-called "winter" is concerned).

Today's maximum temperature was 5.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 2.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
