The sky is mostly clear, and the wind is slowly dying down. However, the temperatures aren't really dropping very quickly due to there still being too much wind around.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 7.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

There is some cloud around this morning and despite the presence of quite a lot of clear sky, our frost-free horror show goes on due to there being too much wind around.

It isn't as mild this morning as what it has been recently., but it still isn't the least bit cold either.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 4.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

An absolutely horrendous and disturbing night with the wind howling and rattling away. Temperature failed to drop below 5C for the second successive night. We can't get two consecutive cold nights but this crap is no problem.

Must be a good chance of the mildest January since 2007 though whether I can endure any more of this to find out is another matter.

Fine with lovely winter sunshine and varied high cloud which made the 9.3 c & 72% h felt positively Spring-like when sheltered from the moderate NW breeze.

It even compelled me to go for a stroll while getting the papers.
